Mk side trims

Post by aparker »

When I look at most mk3 coupe's they all seem to have trims along the side and over the wheel arches, but my polo hasn't and there's no sign that it did. So did all mk3 coupe's have the trim or is my car an odd one,

Theres a chance that it could be a FOX? Some of those didn't have rubbing strips from what I can gather from poloregister. Its either that or a previous owner has 'smoothed' it by removing the strips which are only secured by glue. Only GTs/G40s had the plastic arch trims though.

the question i and possibly aparker ask now .....

where to get "replacement" ones from? :D
(to go in place of my knackered one..)

some arch trims wouldnt go amiss neither, if they're available for squarebacks

well me rear arches are in relatively good nick anyway, if you ignore the big-ass scratch on the left one from when i misjudged a hellish narrow gateway in reverse... fronts of course have rust at all 4 corners from a multitude of chips thrown up under power and once i've tidied that up it'd be nice to protect them :D

Unfortunately the S/Bs didn't have the arch trims. You fancy doing a customy job Tahrey? Most scrappers will have them. Maybe if you fancy some new 'uns ask Martyn@VAGparts?

From VW there about £165 for arches and sills, there like £27.50 a piece so its times six, which is roughly £165.

Theres a set on ebay (just arches) for £50 with no bids...

Or your best bet (if you can find them) a scrapper, I got arches, sills, bumper spoiler, chrome door handle inserts, rear Polo badge and a mk3 golf airbox for £15 I think it was at a scrapper. So it'll be cheap as chips there just a case of finding them I guess...

I'd like to see what you'd come up with arch wise for a squareback. Think it would be proper bo and different!
