Is the GTI grille an easy fix? Presumably just the centre panel needs to be changed?

I ask because I had to replace mine on my last Golf and it was dealer only fit.

TBH, I don't know yet mate as we don't pick up the car until Saturday 27th July as we are off on holiday in 2 weeks and the certificate for the cherished plate transfer will only be sent off to the DVLA today.

I have been doing some investigative work though and it seems like the outer fog light covers just pop off. Usually this is done by inserting the small wire hook (part of the tool kit) into the hole in the grill and pulling. Trouble is, the Blue GT grills as they don't have lights, also don't have the small hole. I think the best bet is to jack the car up on axle stands, remove the engine splash guard (just a few torx screws), and access the trims from under and behind, lifting the clips and popping them out.

As I understand it, with the outer grills removed, it's easier to then get at the side clips that retain the centre grill and get your hand behind the grill (in the holes vacated by the removal of the outer grills) and carefully release the clips from behind.

Well, that's the theory, let's see if it pans out in practise. I'll keep you all posted.

See above. The grills are actually 3 pieces. 2 outer fog light (or blank) grills and the centre grill. If you look closely at the front photo, you can see the joins at the bottom outer edges of the centre grill.

Jealous of the Xenons, the one thing mine doesn't have that I wish it did. as far as im aware they are not something you can fit after build :(
