Surprised about the MPG figures people are quoting on this thread, 48-52 seems pretty poor after all the hype about this engine.

I think it's because the cars nippiness encourages people to give it the beans, and in that situation it's not a million miles away from a regular 1.4 turbo.

For long drives this car is fantastic and I can easily get around 60 mpg (with no traffic). 2 cylinder mode can kick in near 70 mph on a flat road and fuel economy just gets better. My daily commute is around 15 miles with a short stretch of motorway + many pesky traffic lights / 30 mph or 40 mph zones and I average around 43 mpg that I think is excellent when I directly compare with my old 2005 1.3L yarris that itself was a v.good comute car.

2 small problems - 1) the interior lights remain on if I turn the engine on with a door open? This is irritating but problem seems to fix itself when I manually turn lights off then leave for a day or two? Any advise?
2) - small volume of water builds up within the seals above each door when it rains or if there is heavy due. Just discovered this today and hope it will not become a future problem?

Overall really happy with my choice in Blue GT and have big grin every time I start her up 8)

Cracking Photo Martin. Whilst I love the Blue Silk on the Blue GT, it's refreshing to see one in another colour.

Guess what colour I've ordered my new Golf 7 GTD in

Hi, I've just ordered a BlueGT, 5 door, in white, Anthricte wheels with a multi function steering wheel and a RCD 510. My question is this, with the standard fit RCD 310 the car comes with Bluetooth that is a add on stuck to the dash that works like the parrot system, as I've upgraded the radio will this now be built in and fully functioning in the 510? My dealer isn't sure either! Can any of you who have this combination please let me know? Thanks, Jason

RCD510 doesn't have Bluetooth built in so you should still have the bury kit (which incidentally is fitted at the dealers, not the factory).

Finally put my order in!

5 door BlueGT
Blue Silk
Anthracite alloys
Multifunction steering wheel

Got a great price from my local dealer after they matched an online quote (eventually!) and I got three years servicing, mats and a full tank of fuel chucked in for free, so I'm very happy! Looking at a late October delivery. :-)

Sorry to disappoint you but the RCD510 does not have integrated bluetooth. You will need the RNS315 for that.

Congratulations, good choice. For me MFSW is a must.

Hmm, I'm guessing then that if I want the Bluetooth through the RCD 510 then they'll want another bundle of cash!

I think I got a good deal too, a couple of hundred pounds more than the lowest broker price but I got the radio upgrade chucked in, in all just under £3000 off of list!

So you bought yours literally the day before I bought mine! I found they were really easy to barter down, presumably you had the same experience? And in the end they were pretty much willing to give me whatever I wanted. I thought it'd be a tough sell but less than 2 hours after I walked in I walked out, paperwork signed, just bought a car! Had to send her back to the manager a couple of times, but it was to be expected....

Have they given you an October date as well? (My order just says 1st October, but it could be any time before or during that month, so I was told)

I didn't bother with the upgraded radio because I was told you can just buy an upgraded VW model off eBay and fit it yourself for much less? Not sure if that's true or not....

Hi Faye, I had given my local dealer two quotes and told him that if he didn't match I'd walk away, after a couple of chats with his manager and then telling me they'll be losing money on the deal (yeah right!) he accepted what I was prepared to pay! I'm told the car will be built in week 38 which is mid September with delivery 5-6 weeks later, he did say that may come forward a week or two as the factory has now restarted after the summer shut down, so for now I've had to resort to a 12 year old Octavia as the families second car for what will seem like ages!

ebay radio's or nav units are very easy to fit you just need a set of trim removal tool or thin plastic kitchen implements and access to VCDS to code the unit. Coding is not strictly necessary for a straight radio swap but does stop the car showing faults when with the dealers for servicing.
A nav unit will need coding to make it show up on the MFD. New RNS510 nav units can be had for £500(ish), RNS315's for £400, RCD510's £350.

You can fit the bluetooth unit out of a golf which will work the radio/nav and MFD this is again a fairly simple fit if you know what your doing, radio out > a pillar trim out, drivers seat out, headlining down. Plenty of fitters that'll do this for you. If your going down this route ask the dealer not to fit the bury system but give you the unit and leads. These sell okay on ebay, I offloaded mine for £106 + p&p BNIB.
