New to forum looking for advice and help

Post by cam20vt »

hi, just joined up to the forum, looking for some help and advice, ive got the polo 9n3 gti 1.8t and im looking to go for some bigger BHP, my polo currently has the milltek turbo back exhaust system fitted inc decat and has been remapped to 213bhp and has the vr6 clutch kit and g60 balanced and lightened flywheel (7kg), im wanting to go for around 280 bhp (going off the turbo i found which was cr turbos) and think i have a rough idea of what needs to be done but not 100% sure on some of the things heres my list of things:
mk3 VR6 MAF housing
Hybrid ko3s (rs6 internals and uprated actuator)
audi s3 330cc injectors
4 bar fuel pressure reg
4 bar audi s3 fuel pump (does this fit straight in btw)
forge turbo intake pipe (does this have to be a bigger pipe or is it the same thickness?)
Forge front mounted intercooler
is there anything im missing or any advice for me (problems or anything really), thanks in advance, cameron

Hi Cameron and welcome to world of things Polo

To answer a few of your questions;

Injector size will be set by your tuner. I'm running 500cc with Ko3s ceramic ball bearing converted hybrid.
I went with Custom Code for the tune and they only needed me to have a 3 bar FPR
Yes you need any 3" OD MAF housing that will take the stock element
Yes you need an uprated fuel pump. I went with the APR drop in performance pump which allowed me to keep my Polo fuel basket.
The turbo inlet pipe will be determined by the turbo itself. There is no off the shelf product for this as the Forge's inlet is too small even for smaller Hybrids lije the Frankenturbo F21 and no change for the larger F23. And mine being a custom hybrid is the largest I can find anywhere on the web so I started to make up custom alloy TIP packages on my local forum in Australia that are selling well. Here is a link if you're interested and with the exchange rate would work out pretty cheap for you UK fella's

And a pic

You just need to tell me what OD your new turbo's inlet is.

I have also dyno'd the forge FMIC and the SEAT core back to back and SEAT holds boost pressure a lot better. I saw 2 PSI more peak boost and about 1 PSI more across the power band. As well as make 6kWs and a tonne of torque more.

Let me know if you have any more questions :D

I'd avoid cr turbo if I was you. Go for someone like beach buggy turbos he specialises in ko3 hybrids I have seen many builds with cr turbos that fail due to cheep parts been used and they always turn round and say lack of oil to the turbo ... I know some one who had a ko4 from cr turbos that lasted 3000 miles just a word of warning but it's up to you

That's the intercooler pal! I'd try sort your own piping for the intercooler, easy done. Maybe Ant above ^^^ could link you to the intercooler thread on VWWatercooled for the polos. That gives a list of parts required. Buying ready made kits is pretty expensive

Id love to do all this stuff

iv been wanting a k300 for a while just a lot of money for the parts and fitting as I have no fitting skills  :( cant really justify it at the min

but the k300 should make 300 bhp with correct mods
and a good map

this is a intercooler I have been looking at

Not sure if I'm right but on the seatsport intercooler and forge intercooler both piping lugs are on the left side of the intercooler this isnt? Would it still do the trick or cause more hassle or be harder to pipe up?
