Free VW Polo Mark 2 to giveaway for restoration only

Hi,

I'm hoping someone might be interested in restoring an old VW Polo Mk2 we have owned since new.

It is Mark 2 Hatchback (Squareback), 1.05C 4 speed gearbox with electronic ignition, so no manual choke. It is metallic silver. Looked really nice in it's heyday but that was 25+ years ago. I think it has 145k miles on the clock (speedo changed so does not show that). It is 1 owner since my father bought it from VW Colindale in 1986 with only a few miles on the clock and was a real workhorse and reliable. Well looked after by VW specialist mechanics throughout its life. Unfortunately this car is a non runner now. It has been sitting in our garage for the last few years. Was thinking of getting it running again but have not had the time. I believe the cambelt snapped and there has possibly been some damage to the engine but I have no idea, maybe there isn't.

The bodywork is not too bad, a little surface rust over the rear passenger side panel. A few scratches on the door and bonnet. The windscreen got smashed by some horrible people, this will need replacement. However no major rust going on. Brakes are possibly seized now. This has been sitting in a garage for about 9 years so will need a check over to everything thoroughly.

I have the Owners Manual and the key.

This car will need to be trailed away in North London.

We are going to be selective who takes this car, we want it to go to a good home preferably getting it back to its former glory rather than being massively modified, unless they are tasteful VW modifications. Still has some sentimental value. It is SORN with no tax and no MOT and whoever takes it needs to come with the necessary Drivers Licence ID and paper work so we can transfer ownership.

We only want people who seriously want to take it and restore it so please contact me, and yes I can send you some photos. Who knows we might even buy it back off you if you do a nice job! And yes we are giving this away, but please note all the above.
