Trust me this is simple , Plug and play with the correct hockey puck GPS aerial,

Plenty of guides on you tube !

I had Eddie-gt fit mine as I wanted BT and RVC and the correct vw roof antenna ,eddie made it look simple and sourced all the parts brand new ,

Word of warning on buying the RNS units make sure they are from a legit source and as new as possible

Some may require coding though depending on where they have come from so it's not always as simple as plug and play.

You also need to fit:
GPS receiver
Bluetooth module
Hands free mic

Plus, you need to do the coding changes

For example, you won't get any navigation information in the MFD (small display on the dashboard) if you don't use VAGCOM software to update the cars onboard computer.

The unit will register a load of faults next time the dealers plug the car in for diagnostics.

RNS510 will need coding to recognise the bluetooth and handsfree module if you want voice control it is highly unlikely the unit has been factory coded for this.
Also the bluetooth unit will need coding to disable headlining buttons, sort out mic gain correction (you'll sound overly quiet to callers without, you may also need to code the unit for the dash if you have a highline display or coding to put the unit in basic (simple pairing mode).
The BCM will need coding if you have a MFSW, plus all the modules need coding as present in the BCM or all will be logged as faulty on a dealer diagnostic scan.

I've had success in the past getting away without coding. It all depends what car the unit came out of compared to what car its going into as to whether its required. Also had a 4-figure warranty claim for an engine component whilst the car was showing a ton of fault codes from a retrofitted Nav system.
