Confused about offset

Post by GTi_Red »

I have LCR front brakes and have been looking for a set of tt comps because my dunes don't clear calipers.
The dunes I think are et38
The comps fit with out spacers and are et32
But I've seen a set of wheels which are 17x8 et30
Does this offset mean they will fit?
Help please
Thanks

There are a number of things going on.

The offset is relative to the rim width, see the offset calculator on 1010tires which is quite good at comparing rims.

As for clearance, this is wheel specific, there is no relative measurement between offset and clearance, testing is the best way.

30 offset will give a little poke, so if you're low and want to run 205 or 215, you're likely to rub.

Hi cheers, the wheels are rotiform nue and are 17x8 et 30 and I am hoping to run 215 at 35mm lower than standard but about the brakes, on the website it lets yiu select the car and then brings up a selection of wheels and I've selected leon cupra r mk1 and the come up the same size so does this mean the should fit?
Cheers offset confuses the a*s off me haha

There's a good definition of Offset here; http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/tec ... techid=101
