Weird, am I the only CL with internally adjustable mirrors? I spoke to metz and his CL spec saloon doesn't have them, and now you say your S/B doesn't have them. Was it something only done for the Coupe, or was it just stuck on later models, that or an option that happened to be ticked when mine was made?

and rear windows that open would be, oh, just *mwah* fantastic! Need to study how the pop-out ones work on pandas etc (how do they seal?!) and consider a mod...

neither of the two above being available on any mk3 as far as i know :D
I know from poloregister that later spec cars got seat height adjustment right across the range (I have it), but originally it was only a GT and above thing when the Mark3 first came out.

Nope. 1.3's got more standard stuff than 1 litres. My 1.3 CL Had them too. It also had some niceties not usually found on a CL such as a sliding steel sunroof as found on the polo genesis. And it also eventually had genesis clocks and a GT steering wheel too. So except for the interior and the lack of tinted windows it was pretty much a genesis, had ranger-style roofbars too. 8)

So the seat adjustment thing must have been added across the range then for final year production. Still havent sussed this CL thing out though. Whatever it is its German.... What can I say? Its a start :lol:

I did see an M plate 1.3 CL for sale, and that had a glass sunroof. Must have been aftermarket. Always nice to have a sunroof though. I suppose internally I'm approaching GT spec (I would near enough be GT spec if it wasn't for those pesky clocks).

Never heard of a Coupe with roof bars, though I assume your talking S/B Gareth?

CL = Crap Level? :D

CDs wouldn't fit in that hole, they're too big, you can bare get a tape box on it's side (and a CD is just a touch bigger, like a millimetre, but if you add in the material needed for the holder...)
Works just dandy for a 10-box of Minidiscs tho - i've filled both holes and so have 20 MDs in the carry boxes, and a couple loose discs/tapes to plug the remaining small gap

Dont think you'll find a taker for that tape holder dude... my two 12-each tape boxes fit nicely under the passenger seat :D

And no space for an A4 UK map - that cubby (i forgot that! :D) is full of A-Z's, mini-torches, combs..... my map is an enormous A3 (or more!) thing that goes under the drivers seat when carrying passengers - or snugly in the passenger footwell otherwise, right where you need it when solo! :D

And then it struck me....

CL = Comfort Level?

It was off the wall I know, but it would fit in (I suppose).

They had both a polo C and a polo fox in the mk2 just to confuse matters more. There was also a GL and a few other models of you go back far enough.

Mm, there were mk2 C's and CL's.. mine's a C :( To complicate matters, there was also a mk2 fox and a plain old mk2. Standard mk2 is about mk3 fox level, mk2 C is about mk3 CL level, mk2 CL had very little more than a C and the fox was basically a C with a couple of niceties like hubcaps and white bumper piping.

Anyway, that's irrelevant. I have no idea what C or CL stands for whatsoever... car manufacturers have a habit of not mentioning what their letters stand for, VW being no exception...
