uphill assist thingy

Post by greypolo9n3 »

Just noticed today after owning my car for 5 months

when i was facing uphill...after let go of my brakes..the car keeps itself braked for a few seconds in time for you to stick it in gear and set off
kind of like a mechanical uphill assist thing

have you noticed it in your 6R???....try it ...face uphill brake and let go off the brakes....your car should hold its place for a few seconds then you'll feel the brakes let go

quite a clever idea i say

Yeah all TSI engines have this feature I think. On the Audi equivalents they have the start/stop function as well.

Freaked me out when it first happened but now it is a god send..

Works in mine too. I kinda expected it though. As soon as I got the car I went on a hill lol. Think there might be an incline sensor or a sensor to detect how much the car wants to roll back while you have your foot on the brake.

I find if i let the car roll back very slightly then keep my foot on the brake, it kicks in when i pull away..

Its called hill hold

On anything over a certain incline it uses the ABS to lock the brakes for 5 secs till you pull off :)

its always worked for me :D...i think you do need to let it roll back a little before it knows its on a hill

but such a lovely thing when you need it..

pulls away quicker than any other car on the uphill traffic lights in my city aha

Yeah it's a great tool once you know how to use it, basically on a incline, you need to press the brake pedal all the way down and this enables the hill hold function for two seconds or until you press the accelerator.

I have that, it's called a handbrake.

Good feature on an auto car though.

I must say its a lot easier than using the handbrake. One less thing to think about

My new tiguan has it, but it works slightly differently as that doesn't have a handbrake at all! It's all electronic

Have it on my 1.4 N/A Match as well. I thought it was now standard across the range?
