Was ever a solution found, or anyone else have similar issues? Pretty much spot on to what I have plus I have failed electric front windows.
My polo is a 9N 1.9 tdi 130 (asz engine) GT five door 2005.

See the quote from another extinct thread!! Looks like Gizmos nasty mates have got into my polo! All symptoms as described but also failed electric windows!

[/quote]Hi I have been a member here for several years having owned my polo 9n 03reg since new. I have spent a small fortune on the car over the years however I'm just about to throw the towel in. The latest fault that has developed has turned into a nightmare and the car is all but set for the scrapheap. This is my final chance to see if anyone can diagnose the faults before its bye bye time.

Right here goes, It started afew months ago, the airbag light appeared on the dash, the car went in for the service to a vw specialist but not a dealer and the airbag light could not be put out by them, reason being there vagcom could not comunicate with the car. So I learned to deal with it for the time being, afew weeks later, the abs light appeared on the dash, so a quick scan on the forum reveals a common fault of the abs fuse located at the battery, sure and behold the fuse has gone, so I replace it with the correct fuse. another week later, the abs light comes on again with the (!) light then the power steering light comes on, the steering goes heavy when driving at slow speed. I stripped the battery out and got into the power steering pump, topped it up wth fluid but still working on and off with the light still on the dash. The fuel light is also on, when I turn the steering wheel in any direction the fuel guage drops right down to nothing and the beeping noise comes on as if not fuel in the car, then once car straightens up the fuel guage goes back up and to top everything else off the speedo isnt working either so I cant tell what speed Im doing.

I have had various people/specialists look at the car, eventually vagcom communicating with the car but this didnt help, the garage are saying that it could be anyone of 8 modules in the car that connects all the electric components up. So right now the car is sitting with the airbag, the abs, the power steering and the fuel lights on, with no speedo and the fuel guage going up and down like a yoyo when the car turns and also no power steering at low speeds.

Does anyone have any idea regarding this before I let my dad trade this in for a fiat panda!!! And yeah all fuses have been checked, no leaks from power steering pump either and the car has not been in an accident. Also for anyones info its a 03reg Diesel.

God, talk about a blast from the past!!! Haha! That was fun reading, they were bad times!

Basically the electrics in the car behind the dash were ruined! My car wing was replaced under insurance for a small bump and the garage never put 1 little bolt back in the wing, reason being it sits close to the windscreen and they probably couldn't get into it.

I couldn't believe it when the car was stripped out, all the wires were green behind the dash, ruined with water. The water was coming straight in the hole where the missing bolt in the wing was supposed to be. I honestly couldn't believe it! Still to this day I'm shocked! For a year water had been leaking in this bolt hole and into the dash! Anyway bolt was put back in and the car was quickly moved on.

Are you having similar problems? Any sign of water?

My next port of call was going to be gaiters on doors for leakage due to the leccy windows not working, but am replacing the battery due to that possibility which I found in another thread (and needs it anyway really) and going to reset some codes later with diagnostics.....we'll see! But I will have a look around the firewall area when I have the boot open to do the battery. It's in to TRD in Stroud in a bit for an EGR delete anyway so if I have no joy, I will ask them to investigate. Hopefully not as bad as yours turned out to be! Thanks for the response.

Hi, Can you tell me the exact location of the bolt that was left out?, I recently had a new wing fitted and I want to check that this particular bolt has been put back.

Open the bonnet and where the wing bolts are follow them right up to where the wing meets the windscreen, its right up in there. If i remeber correctly the polo has plastic scuttle tray, I'm sure i only noticed this bolt was missing when the tray was off. I'd remove this and check under it to make sure everything is where it should be. Hope this helps.

How long after the wing replacement did these symptoms start showing? One of my wings had a chip in the wheel arch which resulted in bubbling and surface rust. Got this replaced with a mint used OE wing that was resprayed in the colour of my car. This was back in August. All seems fine, but this post is making me paranoid!

Ash :)
