Where is the Polo GTI built?

No Spain. And some RHD Polo's are also build in South Africa. But mostly Pamplona in Spain.

By the VIN number.

If the 10th symbol is a Y it is from Spain and if It's a U It's from South Africa.

If it's a B then it was made in Bermuda and it's against the law if you don't wear shorts whilst driving it.



If I recall correctly all 3 doors are made in Spain. All 5 doors are made in South Africa. All GTIs (3 or 5dr) are made in Spain. This is regardless of LHD/RHD.

Mine have the Y on the 11th position and is a 5 door, so....I think all Polo's are made here in Spain, except the Cross Polo (this I think is made in ¿Germany? Not sure....)

Makes sense to built all Spanish Polos in Spain if they have the tooling there to reduce shipping & import costs.
