restrictor?

Post by peeetz »

hi does anyone know why if you are sitting in neutral and rev the polo engines that it doesn't go over 4000 rpm, not sure if this is only my polo or all of them do it?

if anyone knows how you can get this removed or will it just have to be left like that?

thanks

Its there to prevent engine damage. I cant think of many reasons why you would want to go above 4k revs in neutral...

Can't see any reason to bounce the revs off the limiter in neutral

Whilst I entirely agree with the above. Turn TCS off and push clutch in, it will go above it neutral then.

I would say the same, what would be the purpose of revving the engine to over 4,000 rpm in neutral?

If you want maximum acceleration off the line, l would say you'd want to hold the revs at the torque peak, generally around 3,000 rpm, while letting the clutch up.

But l stand corrected if this is incorrect!
