Re: Rear Brake Discs/Pads and Shocks
also just noticed they do a v-ribbed belt set, belt + tensioner:
V-Ribbed Belt Set
SKF - Ref: VKMA 31219
List Price £70.21
Our Price £49.85
is this compatible?
probably best to replace these as I believe they have never been changed from new and I'm on 103,000 now

That'll be the cam belt
Presumably you've had the cam belt done?

Re: Rear Brake Discs/Pads and Shocks
listing states its for alternator.
was just curious about the connections! I know some manufacturers like to add quirky bits!!
not had cambelt done since I've owned it but I've only done around 2000 miles and previous owner maintained the car regardless off cost but will do when funds allow as I need the rocker cover off to repaint as its coroded (heard it holds the cams aswell so might try and refurb when still on the car).
Unfortunately the car is getting tired mechanically but looks wise its very good and at a price off £300 a bit of a bargain too!!! (came with 5 months mot and 3 months tax)

Re: Rear Brake Discs/Pads and Shocks
Alternator tensioner rarely needs replacing so I would just do the belt. That is the alternator kit however - didn't even know you could buy those as a copy part!
Some cars draw the rev counter feed from the alternator. Polos thankfully don't.
At 103000 I would look into a cambelt and water pump change if you cant find history of it being done
The rocker cover is a joke to remove as you are correct - it holds the cams. Refurb on the car is a much better choice

Haha. I rarely buy copy parts hence the not knowing! I almost exclusively buy genuine parts these days as I get them at a decent price through TPS lol

just reading through the thread on gti's and from what I can work out was there only ever 2258 3dr gti's made? or was that just the number sold as its also states there were 500 in each colour (only 3 apparently) and in both door versions.
