Indeed just under 19k. I pushed for the service pack for free but they wouldn't budge so paid £200 for that.

Some change to paint colour choices vs. the old model unless the site is not yet correct!

Seemingly a choice of fabric colours for the seats too? All listed as 'free'...

would anyone recommend using broker sites, as the discounts seem very good? Has anyone managed to get a dealer to match the quotes from DTD or OW?

I'll let you know on the local dealer pricing within the week hopefully! OrangeWheels is about £1800 cheaper for the BlueGT than book price, then there's a further £1000 VW deposit contribution on top but that is standard everywhere I think if you take finance.

Has anyone used CarWow.co.uk before? I sent out the quote request this morning and already one of the three returned quotes is cheaper than OrangeWheels, knocking £1650 (+£1000 deposit allowance for VW finance) off list price of a BlueGT with a couple of extras.

I have done the same, i got 5 offers back and 2 were cheaper than Orange Wheels and Drive the Deal. My cheapest quote is a saving of £1,617 (+£1000 deposit contribution from VW finance). The only down side is the dealer is near Cardiff, which is a 200 mile round trip for me, but definitely worth it for the savings.. List price with the extras is £17,505 they will do it for £14,888..

I don't actually understand how these work, my local dealer offered my £500 off, less the deposit from VW finance. They are yet to reply to me in regards to being able to price match.

I'll take the best offer (two are identical, I can only assume there is some form of maximum discount or minimum profit %) to my local dealer - they either match it to the penny or I'll buy elsewhere, I'm not haggling. Three offers came back with approx. £600 off the list price, the other two were £1630 off list plus the £1000 deposit contribution.

The best price is about 200 miles away, I'd have to weigh up whether I am keen on them putting 200 miles on my new car and driving it goodness knows how, or getting the train down and picking it up - I suspect I'd get the train down and drive it back myself!

yeah i agree. It makes sense to go with the cheapest offer.

In terms of buying from a dealer far away I would drive down and collect. I would rather do that than have someone drive my brand new car 100 miles or so, it would definitely be maxed out on the motorway haha!

Itching to get a play with the online configurator, VW UK said it was due by the end of last week...once I've had a good play I'll be off to the dealer with some print-outs

I'll either be there long enough to order, or out promptly if they wont match the online pricing

The configuration is already live on the http://www.vw.de site but currently doesn't have the BlueGT (not sure if it's available in Germany), but its there if you want to play around.

I managed to find a dealer in the west midlands that was prepared to match the DriveTheDeal prices. I'm actually based in London but I found my local dealers unwilling to match the online prices (not sure if I can mention their names on the forum). I've heard the DTD VW dealer is based within the M25, but the west midlands dealer was very helpful so they got our order.

Back in Oct'12 when we brought our primary car, we got about 14% off list price, despite the car only being released 1 week prior, so the trick is to find dealers who are always fishing for the manufactures bonus.

Do CarWow require you to re-submit the quote request if you decide to alter from the originally submitted specification?

I had two dealers in the end who were very close on price so I messaged both of them with a final spec. after the online configurator went live. One replied back promptly with an updated price, the other (typically the cheaper one by £100 on the original price) only replied after I rang them and said I needed to re-submit a new quote request - I don't want to do that, as I will end up with another batch of quotes.

I had the same scenario and was told the same to re-submit a new request. i think this is because it assigns your quote with a reference ID and that is used for future communication, so they know the deal is through carwow..

And as my local dealer will match the deal, I shall be ordering this weekend

Strangely, the dealer says that although they can spec the Light and Sight Pack on it's own through the configurator, the paperwork states it can only be ordered in conjunction with the Climate Control Pack...which I don't really want, so we'll have to submit the order and see what happens
