Do VW provide any advice in the owners manual on how to run in a new engine?
When I got my current Astra, the dealer said there were no guidelines, just drive however I wanted, but on checking the manual it had very specific instructions on the initial few hundred miles of driving.
Given many with my Astra's engine have oil loss issues, and I never had any, even after 150k of driving, I'm keen to see if VW have any specifics themselves? The engine in question is the new 150ps 1.4 turbo in the BlueGT.
Official 'running in' guidance on new VW's?
Re: Official 'running in' guidance on new VW's?
Probably just 'don't rake the balls out of it until you've done around 8k'
For some turbo engines they recommend not going over 3k rpm in the first 20 mins of running

Let the engine warm up to 90 Degs then go put it through its pace's, helps bed the oil seals in. Bearing in mind the first 30 miles are the most important.
Did this with my brand new 2011 plate GTI and never had the engine issues a lot of other people have had
