Nice car, good pics. I test drove one....I think it was an SE 1.2, cant remember, anyway I think it's improved a lot. It was nice to drive.

Question for CrypticG - The front lower grille, is the square like hole on all the new polo's?

I take it this fits the 6R with DRL in the foglights too?

Good question, the manual that came with the BlueGT gives H4 and H7 as possibilities on headlight bulbs, not very specific to my actual car...(although i'm guessing it's H7)

What's the name of the VW software that gives specific details? I'm interested in finding the actual bulb types for all external / internal lights that can be swapped to bright whites / leds.

Or maybe a VW dealer can tell me if I give them my reg number?

So far i've got:

Dipped / main = H7 (possibly)
DRL = T20 (possibly)
Sidelights = 501 (possibly)
Foglights = H8 (possibly)

Internal bulbs = ???

The older polo model DRL bulb is specified as a 7507, which is a PY21W or 581 bulb respectively. 21W bulb with offset pins

Aha! getting closer!

Most of the 7507's bulbs & LED's i've found seem to be designed as sidelights or taillights as they come in red, amber or silver finish orange...

These type look about right you reckon?

Take a look on that list.

BAU15S is the other designation for those bulbs.

After browsing a few interesting items, do I need to worry about CANBUS error compatibility or not....?

Well this has me totally confused now, seen many led bulbs some canbus some not, some BA15S and some BAU15S - all say 1156 though. The U means something to do with the offset apparently. Will the BA15S (no U) fit correctly?

Apologies for hijacking this thread...! My final post on this subject is a bit of bulb info I found:

Bulb types 1156-BA15S/P21W and 1157-BAY15D/P215W are mainly used for brake, fog, indicator and reverse light functions.

The difference between 1156/BA15S & 1157/BAY15D is that 1157/BAY15D is a dual filament bulb that allows two functions from one bulb, such as a sidelight and brake light in one bulb or an indicator and parking light in one bulb. 1156/BA15S does not have this function.

Bulb fitment 581 - BAU15S/PY21W is very similar to the 1156-BA15S/P21W, but has offset pins. <--- (This one apparently for polo 6R DRL in foglight area).
