@tankmontana
So I spoke to my dealer this weekend about the whole situation. They're under the impression that the car should be built before christmas hits and it'll more than likely end up waiting on shipping once the thing is built as there will be a slight shipping delay because of the christmas break. Sounds like to me the actual 'build' step is the shortest! Everything else takes the time. So yeah, it's looking like mid to end January. In all honesty, they could take as long as they want, it wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't pushed for needing a car!

In terms of a courtesy car, my dealer seems to be avoiding it at all costs. They're going to pay for my current car to be MOT'd. I highly doubt that it will pass because of worn suspension bushes and weak breaks. So i'm going to let them knock themselves out on MOT'ing it and see where it takes us. If worst comes to worst i'll have to get a cover note on the parents or brothers car. We've already had that awkward conversation of, "Do you think it'll pass Alan?" - "Erm nope, that's why i'm buying a new car." hah.

I've also already fallen stupidly into buying new parts for a car that isn't built yet. Already bought Some Osram H4 NightBreakers for the Dipped and main beams they're nothing stupid and over the top, just a clear white bulb.
http://www.osram.com/osram_com/news-and ... /index.jsp
Also in the process of buying Canbus error free LED bulbs for front and rear indicators and also break lights and finally same again for number plate lights. Think the LED bulbs look so crisp. Would love to buy the same again for DLR's but don't know the fitting as of yet. Again, just want something crisp and white really.

I've also got an ever growing list of detailing products that I need to buy. I've already made a start with Hydrophobic platinum glass from Carbon Collective. http://carboncollective.eu/shop/?produc ... glass-30ml - and also by the same company, Platinum wheels, them knight alloys of mine are going to be gleaming! http://carboncollective.eu/shop/?produc ... ls-coating - Have a look on their instagram for a good understanding of how their products work

Both are a good purchase and they're a long term detailing solution. Takes time to initially do it but they'll stay on there for a good 6 months plus.

Anyone else got any mods in mind at all?

All the best,
Alan

Picked up my 6C SE 1.2 TSI 90PS in Mayan Blue on Saturday morning. Great car. Engine pulls really well for its size, colour looks better than expected, interior feels far more premium and feels like a Golf coming from a 1.2 60ps Match. :D :D :D

@JohnNW - Plenty of pictures, please!

@alanblakey1 - I'm really hoping that the 1 week build time is true, so hopefully (although unlikely), it'll get shipped out before or just after Christmas, from which I'm told it goes to Germany, although this might have been a marketing line I read somewhere. I do know mine is coming in at the port of Sheerness and then it's a 2-and-a-bit hour drive to Swindon, so I assume this part will be fairly quick once it clears customs etc.

That really doesn't surprise me regarding the courtesy car. I read a thread on a forum (Money Saving Expert I think) that VW tend to be reluctant below the 24 weeks, and if they do think it'll get near, they actually source a vehicle through someone like Enterprise. If so, I can understand their stance on things, but it makes life tough if you are selling privately or are timing it around other factors.

Like you, I'm wanting to change pretty much all the bulbs and get the white look both on the exterior and interior.

Having looked around, I saw a post from Ciclo in his thread that mentions the bulbs linked below and they look a crisp white light for a fairly low cost.
http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/mtec-12v-5 ... 9005-9006/

From looking around, the following bulb sizes etc. is what I've found from the AutoBulbs Direct site for the twin headlamp 2014 Polo (if anyone sees anything wrong below, do mention it):

Dipped - H7
Main - H7
Sidelight - 501
Front Indicator - 581
Side Indicator - 501
Interior - 501
DRLs - ?

Apart from that, I'll be adding some OEM mats (http://www.shop4volkswagen.co.uk/produc ... 061420HWGK), metal pedal caps and a exhaust tip (likely the A3 one most people on here mention). Very simple stuff for me.

@wolfi - Congrats buddy. I've just had a reassuring sigh that i've made a good decision on that engine choice too. So envious of you having yours already too, especially in time for christmas etc. and yes, i'm with @tankmontana get the pictures rolling in! Can I be a pain and ask you to take some pictures of the interface screens on the infotainment?

@Tankmontana
I've heard that these 3 doors are built in Germany from my dealer and i'm sure i've also read it online also. Kinda cool if they are so i'm definitely not complaining. Just a shame the engines aren't signed by the builder like the guys at AMG! Think I need to spend allot more for that privilege though! hahah. Shipping should be alright for me as apparently there is a regular shipment into the Tyne in Newcastle.
I've also just realised i've ordered the wrong bloody bulbs too *head in hands*. I need H7's don't I? Where the hell i've got h4 from I don't know. The only thing they have in common is that they're dual filament. Sod. We 100% they're H7 yeah?

I'm livid I won't have a car over the christmas break mind. I''m going to have to get some cover note prices. Thank god I have University and very little work on.

But yes, bulbs are always a simplistic change that'll bring some good results. I'm really not after the Halfords kiddy racer look. Just want it looking crisp, tidy and subtle. Them LED indictor bulbs look premium too. Just a shame that them Canbus error free bulbs are so damn expensive for just having a resistor fitted to them.
I wasn't going to do the exhaust tip but now you've said it. Will wait and see what yours is like. Like the sound of metal pedals too actually. OEM mats are always a good one too. Made that clear to my dealer from the beginning of negotiation 8)

If your an instagram user i'm spamming the hell out of it from here on out, anything 6C related. @Alanblakey1

I thought the regular 3-doors were built in Spain, along with all BlueGTs (and the GTIs pre-facelift), the regular 5-doors being built in South Africa?

vc-10 that is the case, all Polos come from Spain (Pamplona Navarra) and SA (Uitenhage). As you said Spain handles all BlueGT and 3 doors, SA has the 5-door.

Do the Polo's then go to Germany for QA, or straight to the country of purchase?

When I asked about warranties, one of the dealers mentioned that as all the cars go through Germany after being built, they are checked to be at the highest standards.

Yes they do, I was told by VWUK my car was in Germany a couple of weeks ago for this exact reason. Seems a strange way of doing it, but it must work for them.

Must cost them a fortune in logistics having them loaded and then unloaded onto ships etc.

@rsmagee

Yeah that would be cracking if you can get some decent interior shots too. You can't sink yourself into it all when your at a dealer!

Big thanks!
