The only way I can think of knowing for sure if it's been driven around is if there is dirt underneath the car or in the tire tread, but they might valet the car so well that there is none. Mileage obviously tells you little as different cars/manufacturers have different amount of testing miles, whilst dealers themselves should in theory safety test the car before handing it over.

Re: Anyone currently waiting on a 6C factory order?
When I was going to dealerships and finally managed to test-drive the DSG, it was a ordered SE model as there were no DSG demo cars available to test. Apparently it had just come in, which was somewhat supported by the fact that the outside was mostly covered in white plastic and the inside had protective plastic on most of the trim. The plastic on the bonnet made a pretty loud racket at 60mph

@TankMontana yes I was there every day for a week haggling the price haha met 2 of the managers there and 3 of the sales team who all gave me some sort of false info (the main reason I put in my complaint)

Saw my dealer earlier - dropping off courtesy car number 3. Apparently the car is still somewhere, and they don't really know where - she says it will probably just turn up at the dealers without any warning from the computer. I got the impression that this happens every so often.
On the plus side, I'm back in a Golf GT which is much better than the Golf Plus I had before.

Re: Anyone currently waiting on a 6C factory order?
So guys, being nice hasn't helped.
Spoke to my dealer today, who will not email me back no matter how many times I have asked. They have now decided they will honour my cars part ex amount only till end Jan when new car should!!!! Eventually turn up but will "have to look at value if you wait till march" as I " got such a good deal initially there is nothing in it for them" (looking at car wow quote I should have gone in £1000 lower, but never was good at haggling).
I mentioned breaking cos like alanblakey1 said and he said basically if I wanted to cancel that was up to me, wouldn't be drawn on deposit refund.
I have got contact details of sales manager but wanted advice on how to take it from here.
Feel like because I am a girl I might be being pushed around a bit ( hate to admit that!)
Any advice?

Complain anywhere and everywhere and threaten to be in touch with trading standards I went FB and twitter to make it a bit more social and they soon replied and everyone was jut apologising you won't get anywhere being nice to them they should send you and email address back to complain to and then they will open a complaints case for you my complaint was about 4 paragraphs long haha not sped anything up but they are putting it on priority which I accept is all that they can do. Oh and giving me a "vw good will gesture" don't have a clue what that would be yet

@fedupvw
Yeah I agree that sometimes being nice just doesn't cut it. I tried that long ago with these guys and it didn't get me very far at all. Also, there is never 'a good deal' in the automotive industry its dog eat dog and many will match each other. This car purchase has been such a learning curve!
My best advice would be to escalate this to a sales manager and get them to admit that the sale agreement cannot be met. I personally wouldn't deal with VW directly as ultimately the transaction happens with the dealer. (For example you'd go see carphone warehouse if they screwed a contract up, not the phone manufacturer.)
I first sent this off:
Dear ****,
I am writing in regards to enquiry number: *****, as you should be more than aware this car was ordered on ***** for delivery by the end of ******. When I placed this order with yourselves, I stipulated that the condition of sale was the provision of the vehicle within this time scale.
Following unsuccessful interactions with your sales associate(s), *****, in regards to an exact vehicle delivery date I have still not received an answer. I am escalating this matter to you for you to personally take this forward and provide a definitive answer by **** 2-3 working days***.
Depending on your response, I will decide my next steps.
Drop me an inbox and I'll be happy to help further. Cheers, Al.

Re: Anyone currently waiting on a 6C factory order?
@fedupvw - Not to dissuade you but I've just read my T&C's from the new vehicle order form and it states the following:
@Waky - Have you got a build week yet?
I would follow what the other guys have said, especially with the social media stuff, but just be sure to familiarise yourself with what you've signed.... date detailed on the front of this agreement (the *date*) but does not guarantee the time of delivery and time shall not be of the essence.
*Dealer* shall not be liable for any damages, costs or other claims of any nature arising out of a delay in delivery.

Their T&C's are far too open ended, I really thought that they would be water tight.
I honestly hate kicking up a fuss about things but when they're taking you for a ride and passing the buck I had to put my foot down. Got exactly what I wanted as a result!

Re: Anyone currently waiting on a 6C factory order?
Quick update...
Polo is currently on the Galaxy Ace which according to marinetraffic.com is due into Emden on the 31st of Decemeber so hopefully be here for middle of January... Fingers crossed.
VW customer services finally responded and the nice lady one the phone did state that they had an overwhelming demand for the Polo... she also stated that it could be sat in the docks at Emden for up to 2 weeks and then at Tyneside for a further 3 weeks but the dealership only has 48hrs to turn it around and check it and valet it... that would mean that delivery could be into end of February or March, she did say this was the worse case scenario but it's a bit disheartening to think it could get stuck in Emden and Tyneside.
On a nice note they have offered me the use of of Golf GTI over the Christmas Break.

Re: Anyone currently waiting on a 6C factory order?
Hi,
Just joined this forum as my wife has ordered a 1.2 SE 5dr Dsg with four factory fitted options plus metallic.
The dealer phones me most Mondays with an update of progress (or lack of!).
The car was ordered 29th August and we were notified of a build week 42 (10th November) which apparently happened.
He rang me today indicating the car was at "status 38 and hence now in Germany having been shipped from South Africa". However from my on line research, if this is the case it should be at "status 40" !
Is he trying to confuse the issue or giving me bum info?
Whilst I appreciate you cant read his mind, any thoughts will be gratefully received,
Many thanks.

On a different not as I have put a complaint in about the pre-mentioned problems I have had with vw they have offered me up to £250 worth of vouchers for me to spend at vw does anybody have any recommendations it is a BGT in black with black window tint in the back I prefer something aesthetically pleasing or maby some sort of sound system upgrade? There doesn't seem to be that much to choose from for the polo :/ any feedback will be appreciated
Thanks

Re: Anyone currently waiting on a 6C factory order?
@Bertone - I wouldn't read a great detail into it as different parts of the process may have multiple stages. I did a quick Google and found some status number info given to another customer by his dealer, which also looks accurate to what you've been told by your dealer:
I've found that it takes around 36-44 hours to get to whichever southern or eastern UK port from Emden.
As Doc_House has now got me tracking ships30- in transit from the factory.
36 and 38 - awaiting shipment from Emden.
39 - is shipped.
40 - arrived in the UK.
