Polo 9N H7 Fitment

Post by MisterC83 »

Afternoon All,

Just changing the H7 bulb on the passenger side, but notice there is no clip in there, I work for a Motor Factors and checked a Valeo unit we have in stock and this also has no clip. do the bulbs just sit in place? or is there meant to be a clip?

Thanks in advance

Is it not just a push in friction type fitting? im sure theres no clip and its not a twist in fitting. So just line it up and push into place. Should look like theres springed edges around the hole it fits into if that makes sense

Yes, I agree, no clips, one tip, I tend to try to look at the bulb when I remove it so that fitted it back in the same way is easier, also look in through the headlight so that you end up with the bulb seated correctly - ie not at an angle to annoy other road users, like quite a few people seem to do. The nasty thing is that you can still rotate the housing when the bulb is not correctly seated - that is not good!

Thanks guys, asked my mechanic and consulted my Haynes manual (which I forgot I had, not painting a very good picture of myself here!) Yes you are both correct, it locates in the lamp, with a twist/lock mechanism

I asked as my bulb was pointing upwards, I set it right and then discovered the beam doesn't move when using the manual adjuster. Goes up and down the electrical one in the car, but now the beam is pointing really downwards

Only fix is a new lamp isn't it? Bumper off... :(

Have you tried comparing that light on both sides of the car, as I said, fitting it incorrectly is just to easy, try comparing the bulb base on both sides - and that includes "rotational position" - you can do that by looking at both sides carefully.
