Only specific Android devices. Mainly Samsung and HTC. My LG G3 is not compatible so I am holding back.

Well bad news regarding the Xperia Z3 and MirrorLink in the VW polo.

When stationary everything works but when running even the Sony MirrorLink apps show greyed out as not usable while driving. Only the VW apps and the Radio Streaming apps show as usable same as with Note 4.

Hope support gets better with more apps. Can't understand why the Xperia apps won't work.

So if you start, say googlemaps does it stop, or is it just you can't start new apps when in motion?

You can start any App with the Z3 while stationary with break on or off, but when you start driving the screen goes black saying something like "not certified for use while driving". If you have something like Spotify running the screen goes black but the music still plays over the car speakers but then no way to interact with Spotify to select anything, change track etc.

I've since found a couple of Internet Radio and an Audiobook app that works in driving mode on both the Note4 & Z3

I'm thinking it's an intentional feature of Mirrorlink: The idea being you don't get distracted by fiddling with apps whilst in motion. Although Android Auto or Carplay do not prevent you from pushing buttons, and those systems are no less complicated than Mirrorlink..

Got it today! works well with sygic and HTC Car.

Less pleased that someone hit the car in the VW car park so it's going back tomorrow to be fixed.

Bloody hell, what a nightmare! Can't imagine how frustrating that would be, especially after such a long lead time

- Opps! Sitting in VW garage today with the sales chap and as we played with Mirrorlink a nice chap with a Merc E Class pulls up and opens his door into the wing mirror... Both of us sat there in disbelief.

Go to wait till 12 for the damage to be fixed but their sorting it all for free and I can work from VW with wifi.

Right now I've got my head around it Mirror Link seems to work really well with the HTC One M8. Sycic Car Sat Nav work well and HTC Car seems ok just takes some getting used to.

VW did fix everything and were really apologetic, grovelling and gave me another free tank of Petrol and endless cups of tea.

Honestly wanted to throttle the merc driver
