Ciclo, need some help. What is the easiest way for routing a thin wire through the firewall/bulkhead? I saw the rubber grommet for the hood release cable but it is located a bit inside and may have to remove the wipers and the plastic trim to gain access. Is there another point?

Thank you ciclo. I think there might be a dummy hole with a grommet on the co-driver side as well. Let me check.

Or will use a pointed object like a needle and insert the cable through the hood release grommet from the inside to the engine bay side. Will keep you posted. Thank you once again!

Hi im active in the dutch Mypolo community.

I was wondering if you could help me out with my retrofit OEM xenon headlights.

I opened a topic about the led's in my headlights. I was looking for a solution to brighten the led DRL like original when the lightswitch is at 0 and dim when at 1 or 2.

I have the bcm which ends with 87b (polo is from 2009).

Everything works, leds, high and low beam but the led light do not dim or brighten like original. Is this due to the BCM or can it be fixed with propper coding?

Hi sambir
Your BCM can not control DRL because it has no pins needed for this. With BCM encodings you can not do anything about it.

The encodings are very different depending on the equipment from factory (drl, fog lights, static cornering light, etc...), so it makes no sense to compare one BCM over others. The electrical installation of Polo6R with BCM 087 is different from those Polo Bluemotion with BCM 088 or others 089x, 090x.

All you can do is modify the electrical installation depending on the equipment you have in your Polo. You need ElsaWin (diagrams) to configure your electrical installation as needed.
It is possible to run everything as factory, but it is too long to explain and I do not have time for this. I'm sorry sincerely.

Thanks a lot to you too for this informative thread ciclo! The glovebox light mod was inspired by the one you did.

Unfortunately for us, we do not have many competent garages here so the only way out is to refer to the VW workshop manuals and DIYs posted by others and get it done with the help of a friend.

I have a doubt regarding the 32 pin connector that goes to the instrument cluster. I believe the windshield wiper fluid tank low-level sensor's cable goes into pin #17 but I can't find a pinout or wiring diagram for this. Checked many websites including ELSAWIN but couldn't find one. Can you please help me out with this?

Try this installation:

For your DRL with harnes 10 to 14 pins (BCM 087)

Remove the pin 10 of connectors T14. Isolate.
Remove the pin 3 of connector T17 light switch. Isolate.

Wire from slot 3 switch light connector----> fuse (5amp * ) ----> two wires directly to T14 (connectors) slots 10 , for both of xenon headlights.

T17/3-----FUSE-----T14a/10 and T14b/10

This way your DRL will work in the "0" position light switch.

* I do not know which is the power consumption of LEDs for DRL, but I think that is enough with 5amp fuse.
If you know the real consumption of LEDs for DRL, multiply it by three and that's the fuse value. (multimeter)

Thanks for your reply mate The DRL already works in all cases. I only want it to work in FULL power mode when the switch is at "0".

Currenlty the DRL's work at dim modus in all cases, 0, 1 and 2.
