Usual Polo 6N2 boot light microswitch problem…
Can anyone tell me whether both parts of the switch are needed to rectify, please?
VAGcat says that 6X0947569 is boot switch, and 1J6953230A is switch and wiring…

If you remove the connection and short it with a bit of wire it should switch the boot light off. If that works then it's just the switch that has failed and needs replacing.
