I'm a newbie here - just picked up an '03 1.2e
Was hoping to pick up some advice from you good people! I noticed that my dogbone mount was loose, so bought a new one plus the 3 bolts as specified in the Haynes book. When I got under the car I found a quality bodge - looks like someone has been here before me and has sheared the sub frame bolt, and it's now fused with the inner alloy part of the mount. Matters are further complicated by the fact that rather than try and get the bolt out they simply welded the bolt head to the sub frame and called it good!
Now, I managed to break the weld but am left with the bolt that's sheared which is now half out
Anybody got any hints as to how I can get the old mount off?
Once it's off, has anyone successfully drilled and tapped the sub frame thread? Looks to be very close to the steering rack...
Any advice would be gratefully received
Thanks in advance all!
