hmmmm whaddya think of this kind of paint scheming

Trucking on home "today", taking a rather roundabout route including some dual carriageway, a red mk3 coupe (CL with black badges

) breezed on past me at a more normal pace..... rather than the usual (half) colour coded bumpers... all the bodywork below the trim strip was painted black (mebbe dark grey - bad light).

so was that a factory option, special edition, or just a certified unique bit of respraying? looked pretty smart (tho, it certainly wouldn't be pull-offable with a dark blue 'un!)..... despite any other lack of mods, discounting the obscene amount of wolverhampton wanderers stickers in the back window

whaddya think on the whole turning-it-on-its-head thing?

(maybe... maybe.... i'll half code my bumpers... then spray grey below the bump strip

Ive seen that on alot of ford escorts. I dunno wether I like it or not. Woulnt do it with anything other than white or red tho.

i've seen a beige passat that had the body below its bumper strips painted dark grey, and i think it looked like it just had an accident and the body was repaired but it was waiting for the paint to arrive at the bodyshop

In years gone by, you could have aftermarket rust proofing applied to the underside, and then carried a good few inches up the doors.

It was usually done to cars after some work had been done to deal with an ongoing rust problem - kinda as a way of obscuring the underlying issue. Used to be really popular on MK1 Fiestas, for example

mmm, its like a rash, it's spreading - just went past a last-model escort estate with the exact same scheme

thing about the maestro, ysee, is... it looks alarmingly like a Golf or a mk1 Polo
