For that one im not entirely sure..its something youll have to ask them or a mechanic, I havent mot'd mine since so i dont know however the guy i get my mot from is fairly friendly...v896 wrote:Thanks for advice i appreciate the response.

But i dont think it would effect it much to be honest
Re: Tuning a TDI
I don't think i'll be doing that after reading this. I have a MOT friend too i wouldn't want him to lose his way of earning a living

To be honest if it goes through emissions without a DPF there is no way of checking whether the car has one or not...as the housing is still present so visually my car still has a dpf, besides i removed mine before it became illegal lol
But its your choice, in the long term its more beneficial i guess

Re: Tuning a TDI
Cant fault the performance mate, Especially going from 75 to 140'ish is insane!v896 wrote:Just out of intrest what the performance like? do you get better fuel economy?
Ive had a fair few dogfights, it eats away a golf 140, leon 150 fr, Almost keeps up with tdi pd 170's
Toyota starlet glanza...noooooo problem lol
so it qualifys for a hot hatch! ....
Economy while normal driving is just amazing, i drive 35 miles to work and average around 60-65 on every run, it gives me around 550-580 miles to a full tank
But if your constantly driving hard for a little while u definitely watch the needle go down lol but thats understandable considering a remap is an increase in fuel and air so thats not a problem.

Re: Tuning a TDI
Looking at getting mine done, it's the 1.6 90ps. I fired a quick email off to both Pendle Performance and Fatdubbers. Pendle have said 140bhp with 300nm torque, for £375+VAT, where as fatdubbers is £375 (seen them mentioned on here). Based in Warrington so not looking to have to travel too far, maybe an hour or so.. Has anyone any other recommendations?
One thing I should mention though is this.. My car is on finance and my service plan is through my vw dealer where I purchased it from and because of this the only query I have is will they be able to notice that the engine is being ran under a different tune? Will I get in sh*t if they do find it etc? Also, will this void any warranty? Sorry for the possible stupid questions, I'm just unsure about these things.
Edit: fatdubbers have got back to me and have said they can get an extra 20bhp and 25lb/ft, apparently..
Thanks
Ryan

Re: Tuning a TDI
140 is a safe limit...160 would be really pushing the turbo and will have a worse impact on the parts..mines at 140 and its perfect...i would upgrade the turbo and intercooler if i wanted more.ryan_dicko wrote:Looking at getting mine done, it's the 1.6 90ps. In regards to the dealers, yes a remap would void the warranty and if your taking it for a service im not 100% sure if they will find out its remapped....depends if they plug in their diagnostics ...or if they try to update the ECU software then they will see it.

Re: Tuning a TDI
Yeah I won't be going anywhere over 140bhp at all. If I'm honest I'm unsure of the warranty length, but is it not 12 months?.. The fella who sold me my car seemed quite sound so I might risk it and go in and actually ask about it, but if they say it's a no no.. Then I may have shot myself in the foot! I also want to throw some h&r springs on it too, and I might ask about them too whilst I'm at it. Has anyone declared the tuning on their insurance?

Re: Tuning a TDI
Ive declared everything bar the map
I actually ran out of tick boxes...shame really aha
but it bumped it up by a couple hundred quid which turned out was worth it as i had a little collision last year! and they looked at my list of mods
