Polo 6C - Phone holder

Post by rustyd0g »

I've just purchased a new 1.2 TSI SE Design 5 door in white which will be delivered in March. Can anyone recommend a good phone holder / mounting system? I'll be using use my Nexus 5 for SatNav duties so need a good looking mount for the dash that's not too far from the USB socket. Any suggestions?

I've been looking at the Brodit Proclip centre mounts, anybody installed one of these on the 6C? Are the air vents identical to the 6R?

Ended up getting a Kenu Airframe to clip into the central air vents. Hopefully it does the job, seems a nice little bit of kit.

Just bought this off Ebay designed for the Fabia but fits the Polo fine and the USB cable for Mirrorlink can be fitted through the base to keep it tidy as well

That's quite neat, any idea what size of phone it would take? I need something high up so I can use phone for navigation. Is mirror link available at the moment and are navigation apps on the approved list?

Just did a quick google and it seems my Nexus 5 isn't MirrorLink compatible anyway.

That looks very neat - and reasonable priced, certainly better than those £40+ Seat jobbies. The only thing is, looking at these photos, it seems to be designed for those 2.5 cuplholder things in some VAG cars. Won't it block the second cupholder in the Polo?

Still probably worth a punt at £10 though.

Only thing in my cupholder is the Phone and Yoda, never used them for cups or drinks :-) It works a treat.

Any chance you could post a close-up photo of how it sits in the Polo, so I can see how far it sticks out into the other cupholder?

That's perfect! So the round, sticky-outy bit can be positioned to point the other way so as not to intrude on the second cupholder? Many thanks, I will order one on Monday.

Hello!
Are you satisfied with the Kenu holder? I am looking for exactly the same as you. Need to have a holder up in sight for my phone to do the navi job.
The Kenu doesn't fall out?

I ordered one of these on Thursday as I'm using my iPhone 6's maps at the moment. Hopefully it will be strong enough to hold it up - I will let you know how I get on :)

Thanks for that Jammydodger. Looking forward your opinions....
I am considering between this and the more expensive Brodit. But it is actually quite pricey, and the clips seem to be specific for only one phone model. I am soon switching my phone so i would actually prefer an universal holder, if any good one is available.

I've a Kenu it's great as long as the vents are at the right level to see & aren't a fancy design the 6r/c should be a perfect fit
