hi all,
I have the opportunity to change my company car from a 2013 Civic 1.6 Diesel to a Polo 1.4 ACT Bluemotion GT DSG 5 door. I really want a petrol car again. Can anyone give me an idea of real world mpg, ride, handling etc for this car please. It's not brand new, 14 reg so probably 140 PS version, I'm very tempted to swap. Any advice?
Advice please

Re: Advice please
If it is new it will be the 150 hp version.
It is a really great car. I really love mine. (Mine is a 140 hp version. But got 150 hp on the dyno stock)
It is really fun and plenty quick to keep up with most cars on the road.
I get around 48-50 mpg on average when I just drive normally and don't think about economy.
The figures from the factory can be met if you think ahead and use some ecodriving tips. In km/l my manual version should according to VW get 61 mpg. I have had it well beyond that at times and have hit 67,7 mpg.

Re: Advice please
Only done 500 miles in mine and agree with the above. I'm really surprised at the decent MPG figures I've seen so far without even trying.
Re: Advice please
Fuel consumption varies according to circumstances. Ours averages around 44 mpg (according to car) but is often used for shortish journeys and at busy times (it's also a manual gearbox).
Steady progress on decent A roads will see it easily into the mid / high 50's and I even saw 72 mpg once, albeit that was on the M1 roadworks (50 mph) northbound heading for the M6 junction!
Other than that, I'd say the Polo is comfy for front seat passengers (a little cramped in the back for adults), it steers and handles nicely (though the lack of independent rear suspension does show at times) and has a nice, but very Germanic, interior.
I'd say swapping from a Civic diesel to the Polo BGT you'll lose some degree of refinement but gain driving enjoyment.

Re: Advice please
I've only had mine a week (150HP) and it's really good on fuel. I'm predicting 400 miles outta my first tank (260 left and I've done 140)... I've twice got 54/55MPG on way to work, mixture of 30/40 and 5 miles on an A road
It does drink it if you boot it a bit (coming back from work especially as the A road is on a bit of a hill so you have to give it some, but I can I live with it!)
