Polo gti getting stuck in a gear

Hello,

Whenever I really hammer my car, the gear sometimes doesn't change and the engine sticks at the same revs the whole time. I have to just wait for it to pass or knock it into normal drive instead of manual. Has anyone else had this issue?

Sounds like kickdown. When you say you have to knock into normal drive, is that from S? Or from manual? and do you mean the tiptronic side of the gear shifter? or the steering paddle shift? I only use D and override with the paddle shifts when i want to control the gears and revs, etc. S leaves a lot to be desired on the DSG box, if i do use it its only when i'm on a straight road as it can hold onto the revs for too long, and if you hit a corner and accelerate straight away it makes the engine scream like foxes in the deep of the night! However, if you mean the when you are driving via the paddle shift and experience a delay of sorts when telling it to move up a gear, best get it looked at.

Hi mate thanks for the reply.

Basically what happens, when I really go for it, it'll go through the gears as normal, and then when I get to around 90mph the revs just hold at around 6000 and the car refuses to change gear, that's using the shifters on the steering wheel and using the tiptronic. The only way I can stop it is knocking the gear box out of S or M mode and into normal drive. I have to say this has only started since I got my EPC tune box which was napped specifically to my car, I may have to take it off and see what it does without it.
