For sure Andy :) Just breaking her in slowly!
Steigerz, beautiful car :) Which colour is it, Pure White or Oryx White?
Pure white. The Oryx reminds me of the Fiat 500 pearl edition a real chick colour :P

New to the Group !

After months of mind changing, eventually ordered my Polo GTI Manual in flash red.. and judging by the pics on here, what a choice!!

Ordered mine with the following:
Sport Pack
Convenience Pack
Cruise & Park Pack

Didnt go too mad with the extras but after reading through this, the electronic air con seems like it would of been worth while but hey ho!

One thing im 100% going to add are the carbon effect door mirrors!

Ordered at the start of July but still not even a build date :( counting down the weeks!!!

Would welcome any advice for when shes eventually delivered!

Cheers guys!

My GTI has been built and should be at the dealer in a few weeks time. Excellent pictures too from everyone! Really can't wait to get my hands on it.
Anyone planning to take it to the track at all?

Thought I'd create myself an account, as I'm very close to ordering a new GTI
Going for the 3dr Manual, didnt get to test drive one though. Nightmare trying to find one, had to settle for a DSG test drive and a play around with the toys in other Polos.
Looking at a fair bit of kit, sport pack, Sat Nav, Car-Net-App-Connect, Parking Pack, Climate Control and Convenience Pack.

Anything people would really recommend adding (or removing?)

Not looking forward to a 3-4 month lead time though :(

Make sure you get quotes from the online websites like Carwow. You should be able to knock about 10% off the dealers price this way. In terms of what to order I think this is a very personal choice. I have the sports pack, light and sight, park and cruise, and folding wing mirrors on my 5 door. If you intend to use the back seats at all regularly then the 5-door is a must as it's a small car to get in and out of. Others have ordered the Panorama roof but I can't comment on what this is like.

The manual is superb and I still can't fault the car except I want the iPhone connectivity via Carplay. I note you're considering App-Connect - make sure it is actually available as I've not read anything yet where anyone actually has this working in their car other than a few people complaining about Mirrorlink not being very good.

As Penarth said, make sure you get a quote through CarWow. They offered me a 17% saving through finance and 11% saving for cash.

I've done 1200 miles in 4 weeks and I can't fault the car. The convenience pack is great - I've set it to automatic and I haven't touched the wipers or lights since. Really wish I'd gone for cruise control, but as it was only available with the parking pack which I wouldn't use, it seemed like an expense I didn't need.

Good choice, red was my second choice colour.

I went for a lot of options to, a lot of people online seem to be keeping it basic but i'm a sucker for toys and always good to have, none of the options are particularly expensive and I got a great deal.

In the end I ordered:

3 DOOR, DSG
Reflex Silver Metallic Paint
Sat Nav
DCC Sport Pack
Winter Pack
Parking, Cruise and Rear Camera Pack
Carbon Effect Mirrors

Which list is near enough £23k, I managed to get it for just shy of £19k on the road through drive the deal, and with a deposit contribution from VW which I think is a pretty good deal!

Still, be prepared to wait. I ordered first week of April, still waiting. Currently have a confirmed build week of 7/9/15 with estimated delivery early October. LONG wait so hoping its worth it.

Thanks for the replies all.

I've got quotes from DriveTheDeal and CarWow and I've already got a good price very close to the cheapest online price, and he's coming back to me with a further offer this week so fingers crossed I'll be ordering. Once it's all sorted I'll happily share the prices I get for others reference.

Past 2 cars I've had have had auto lights, auto wipers, cruise control etc so I'm so used to them now, it's scary because if I get in another car I don't think about the lights or anything now. So they're a must on any new car for me.

Yeah I'm intruiged by the Car-App-Net-Connect, the VW website states it has the Android Auto and Apples Car Play compatibility so it sounds like the right thing. I saw a user a few pages back said he had used Apple Car Play in his, so sounds like it is OK. It's not a must, but I like my gadgets/phones, so £100 to have it isn't a huge one to take a punt on. If it's rubbish I'm not too bothered, but it does look like Google/Apple will be going down this route and improving what their respective platforms can do with it so could be nice being an early adopter of it as it evolves.

Cruise Control is very expensive, annoyingly at £400. I'm not fussed about the parking sensors, but really can't do without CC. Going to go for the Parking Pack though, cos the Cruise/Parking Sensors is £400 and the Parking Pack is only £25 more expensive but get reversing camera included, bit silly not to go for that I think.

About the long waits - they've said a pretty vague "3-4 months" - has anyone been able to get deals with the dealers that if it exceeds their estimates then you get further money knocked off, or anything else in compensation for it going over that?

I've had a free MOT so far for delay and part ex price is guaranteed. Other sweeteners have been hinted at

After the delay you've had to endure Andy, VW should be buying the darn thing for you!

In other news . Saw a black GTI in Stratford upon Avon yesterday. Warwickshire certainly seems to be the GTI capital at the moment.

(Auto Express are showing pics of the possible new Golf GTI. Bodes well for the really new Polo GTI in a few years time.)

Yeah the way I looked at it was the things I wanted weren't expensive and made a few pounds difference in the monthly payments so why not?

Also just realised my post above didn't include the VW deposit contribution, so i'm only paying £18k for the car!

Mine has been delayed to a point where I nearly cancelled it as had other options of different cars in stock or with a 1/2 week wait but in the end decided I wanted the Polo above any other car. I was originally quoted 12-14 weeks by the dealer, its now 16 weeks since I ordered it and still not built. I now have a confirmed build week for 7/9/15 so should be here October which will make it about 25 weeks, which is double original estimate so not best pleased.

Whats annoyed me is that every dealer seems to quote 12-14 weeks, but if you speak to VW customer services which I have several times, and they now call me weekly with status updated they said that I should never have been quoted 12-14 weeks, and the correct estimate is 16-20 weeks for BUILD, then a further 3-4 for delivery.

As far as i'm concerned my car is delayed HUGELY, however VW customer services have told me its not, so I struggled to get anything out of them. However, they advised me that as of 10th August its officially 'delayed', and they will provide me with a courtesy vehicle in the meantime until mine arrives, but not sure how this will work as they refuse to give me any information e.g. what car it will be, will I have to insure/fuel it etc until 10th August as there is the possibility that it could get built early anyday now.

All I would say is be prepared to wait, and ignore the dealers estimates.

Nice pics there, did you purposely get GT1 in the number plate or was that just a happy coincidence?

I'm guessing its a private registration, I had looked at a couple which are quite cool using advantage of the GT15, can make things like GTI 5LOW which is quite cool.

Mine is going to be a '65 now though, so will stay as a '65 for a couple of weeks to show off then my cherished plate will go on!

yeah it's a private plate, my initials are JPT so just looked and it would of been a 15 plate so might aswell get GT as it was the cheapest the DVLA do

it would of been a C* prefix if i just had a random one.

i still kick myself as i used to have D11 NKT but lost it on a s**t clio.
