RCD510 Upgrade

Sup gang,

I'm looking to upgrade from my RCD310 unit, to the RCD510. I've found the unit I want on eBay, and the seller assures me that it'll come with the code, so that isn't an issue, but I do have a couple of quick questions.

Will I need to change the facia? At first I thought I would, but looking at the unit I have at the moment, I'm not certain I do.

I'm also looking at getting a reversing camers, mainly as I'm certain thet Stevie Wonder can park better than me, and I've read that the RCD510 unit can work with this camera, can anyone else confirm that, or recommend another unit?

check the backside of the RCD to see a long stretched 26-pin connector (2 rows of 13 pins)

I can confirm the RCD310 and the 510 are the same size. They are a straight swap

I went from an RCD310 to an RCD510 and it was just : pop the trim surrounding the unit off (carefully but firm)
Unscrew the 4 screws, slide out and replace with the 510.
Clip the trim back on and job done

In regards to the camera.. Yes this will work as well. Not sure though on installation.

That camera will unlikely work with the RCD510. You really need to use a proper VW camera for it.

Either that, or youll need to get the kufatec kit

Hey Steve. There are OEM VW flip cameras available on AliExpress. You should check them out. They retail for about $400 odd. Tad expensive but worth it if you would like an inconspicuous camera.
