Hi,
New to the forum and also have just inherited my wife's GTI as she has a new job with a car. It's a 2013 GTI and I have a few questions after driving it for a bit
I noticed it's a bit tappety sounding when pulling away sometimes or accelerating from low revs, is this usual?
The dealer from new set the door locks to auto lock and it needs multiple presses on the key to open all doors, can the locking be set in more specific ways e.g. When getting out to put petrol in the petrol cap unlocks automatically?
The car has DRL,s which includes the rear lights, can it be front only?
When we bought the car from new we had the dealer put a media unit in that included full Bluetooth, on media streaming from the phone the two "buttons" on the screen are blank, can they be programmed to do anything e.g. Next track?
Thanks for any responses.
Roger

Haven't got that particular model so can't help sorry - but in the light of the faulty timing chain thread I'd have that tappet noise checked ASAP.Roger645 wrote:Hi,

You might want to ask Ciclo on one of the other threads what is possible to be done with the VCDS software re the control stuff.

Thanks for the response, I'll get VW to check the noise.Penarth Blues wrote:Haven't got that particular model so can't help sorry - but in the light of the faulty timing chain thread I'd have that tappet noise checked ASAP.Roger645 wrote:Hi,

Re: 6R GTI newbie with questions
I think the 'tapperty' sound as you put it can be traced to the clutch that engages the supercharger. Mine does this very occasionally, usually under hard load. I think there's a newer version that can be fitted under warranty but it happens so rarely that I'm not too concerned.
Regarding the locking, mine does this also. A press of the fob just unlocks the drivers door, anther press the passenger doors etc. Not sure if this can be reprogrammed without having a dealer look at it.
Sorry, can't help with the Bluetooth question, hope my other comments are of help though.
Thanks

Forgot to say, mine has DRL as well but its just the front on mine, didn't realise you could get rear. Needles to say, I'm not sure how you'd turn the rears off.

Re: 6R GTI newbie with questions
If your car has the upgraded MMI retrofitted, can you not look in car settings locking and change the locking in there? Other than that, maybe do a bit a dabbling with VCDS in the central electronics module - only if you feel that you are safe to do that.
Edit:- I thought about that on wife's 2002 Polo from new, almost 13 years later it remained unchanged, so when we picked up her new Polo it was set up the same way - but as you can change that in the MMI I did that as soon as I got the car home - wife thinks that she got used it the double press!!! I think that VAG refer to that as "anti carjacking" - "auto locking" is when the car locks at when moving at about 15MPH (or maybe 15KPH) and unlocks when the key is removed or a door opened - that is my next task!

Thanks all for the responses, I'll have a chat with VW regarding the supercharger clutch, and do some digging around VCDS and see what I can find out.

Re: 6R GTI newbie with questions
The multiple lock/unlock is available in the VCDS. I believe it's called an "anti-hijack" feature. If I'm not mistaken. But I have had it activated on my GT. All you need is a VCDS cable & the software on a mac or Windows 7+

Re: 6R GTI newbie with questions
This is normal and likely due to the dual clutch gearbox - really the power delivery can be a bit jerky between 0-10 mph.

To put the rear reds off when light switch is at '0' but with ur DRL on ;
Go to VCDS and de-select 'pole/side lights on at switch position 16'
