Anyone purchased with drive the deal

Post by Mikeyander5on »

I've ordered my new polo gti 6c with my local vw dealer and have managed to have the cancellation fee of £500 waived. This means that I'm looking at different cars in the meantime and also looking for better deals. Found this deal but it seems to good to be true. (Over £3000 off) Anyone had any purchases with them? Is this legit?

I got my Blue GT through Drive the Deal in April following a nightmare with my local VW dealer.

Can only say they were fabulous. ended up with a dealer in Kent, I am in South Wales, they would deliver via a driver for free but I paid for a trailered delivery. Communication was excellent.

I saved over 15%, I would say go for it.

Have bought several cars through DtD, including current B GT and A6 Allroad. No problems whatsoever and they are generally the cheapest around.

You could also try Carwow and/or take the DtD quote to a VW dealer near you and see if they'll match it.

I did this when buying a car for my wife. They actually beat it by an extra £500 as they'd obviously lost a few customers to DTD and Carwow. Not all stealerships will match the quotes, but can't hurt to try.

Didn't buy through them but used their quote and carwow quote to negotiate with my local dealer, who got very close to the DTD price, so went with them as they are very close and gave me a very good service.

I did the same, including getting a quote from "orangewheels" - and as I am located in central Scotland, just added in £500 allowance for collecting the car (as all low prices were based around South coast) - and told my dealer that that was price - "just same yes or no" - they agreed to my terms and so got my business. I'd guess that it should not be a big surprise to anyone to the best dealers are never on their own door step, maybe the dealers or importers make sure that this is the way things will pan out.

One thing to remember is, typically these prices are based on you taking the "best version" of any VW brand backed deals that are current, ie taking HP with dealer contribution etc, normally that is included in the T&Cs .

Typically, yes as all these brokers are doing is supplying a willing dealer with a sale opportunity - at a price.

Edit:- where there is no VW finance deals currently active, these brokers can usually offer you something.

Edit Again:- one other thing, I think that there is a VW deal on that model of Polo right now, so maybe check your local dealer as I think that that claimed saving will now not be correct over current price.

Edit Yet Again:- yes, £17500 OTR - that like your quote will include £1000 dealer contribution if you take finance.

The only problem I have at the moment is I've 2 weeks in a que for ordered car and if I go with a different deal I'll be held back even further. I wonder if it is possible to take the car that is on order for me now and change dealers

I've edited my posting again, so maybe have a chat with your dealer if they re also offering the sort of price as I'm quoting for a new customer. Holding onto that car and getting it through another dealer might not work.

I was also told that if VW changed anything, the customer would always benefit, either moneywise or hardware changes - after order is placed.

Please note that I still believe in Santa Claus!

I think my best bet is just to talk to my dealer and explain the quote I have been given and leave it in there court, even if my dealer offered me a complimentary sat nav or something I would be happy

To be honest, I can't imagine a dealer giving you anything back. If you've signed for the deal on a new car and then found a better offer since then, that's not their fault, you can't expect them to change the agreed upon price. Depends on how much difference there is between the price you paid and the quote you have online now. I suppose you could cancel your order and replace the order, but I can't see them being too amenable to that - I'd like to be proved wrong though! Let us know how you get on

Well the funny thing is that before I signed the deal I asked for the cancellation fee to be waived so if I do need to cancel at least I won't be losing our hopefully th e dealer realises this and try to do something for me. Will let you know what happens.

These websites are pretty good for haggling tactics I find, I ordered mine back in January, and received in May as requested. I went to local dealer with car wow quote and they were only slightly more, and I thought why not as its 2 minutes from my workplace!

Good luck with your new car!
