In vcds module for the can bus I clicked on the installation list and had a nosey down the list. I checked the box with headlamp range and then backed out of it, found it did nothing so went back and unchecked the box. I now get the warning light on the dash telling me a bulb has blown which it has not, all bulbs are working perfectly. In the can bus module it shows the headlamp range module is not reachable (because I dont have one i guess but it is now turned off anyway) but as I have unchecked the box I cannot see what else I need to do to stop it from pulling up the fault and also displaying the blown bulb symbol?
vcds can bus module reset?
vcds can bus module reset?
I went on vcds today to look at turning the daytime running lights off to no avail. I do not have led drl's, it is my headlights and do not have a light sensor so it is on constantly. The real problem being we got pulled over because our front lights were on but our back lights did not work (it wont as they are daylight running). It was not dark but the police thought we had a fault with them
This is more then just a worry, I would prefer all the lights front and rear be on or none at all. I have never left my lights on and always turn them on if driving conditions are becoming poor even in rain. Anyway not the point of the thread and I am sure loads of people find drl's very handy.

Re: vcds can bus module reset?
Autoscan and clear all DTC's
In your 6R:
DRL OFF forever: remove the wire from slot 3 switch lights connector. Isolate with cloth tape (for example), very important.
or
Rear and front lights ON (as DRL)
BCM, 09 cent elect
Byte 12 bit 0 activated.
Note:
or = and/or
Note2:
Take into account the traffic regulations of your country before making any modifications on your vehicle.

Re: vcds can bus module reset?
Great thank you very much. I will have it so all the lights are on rather then disconnecting altogether. I am shocked they do not come with the back lights on too as standard.
Thank you also on the reset I will get on with that this evening. Much appreciated.

Re: vcds can bus module reset?
Audiobull, I completely agree with your thinking about front and rear lights on or no lights on. I just can't see where this "well thought out" EU and maybe other regions ruling came from. If it is concerns about following drivers not being able to see the brake lights, well there are ways to fix that with varying brightness. I am that old that I remember when Gunsons brought out a retro fit safety lighting system for UK cars that involved altering the brightness depending on if they were used during daylight or night times.
From EU rule makers, just a cheap version of what Scandinavians have had for years, and some American regions as well.

Re: vcds can bus module reset?
Worked great thanks. Now have all lights on.
I scanned and removed all faults with vcds but the blown bulb light still shows on the dash board despite having no blown bulbs and no faults showing anywhere in vcds?

Re: vcds can bus module reset?
I thought as its telling me a bulbs blown I will activate all the bulb diagnostics and the blown bulb light has now dissapeared. Odd as they were not activated in the first place.
I guess I cant activate the fog lights with turning unless I have the correct fog lights?

For next time, the best way to solve this type of problem:
Look for "Debug" folder in your VCDS program, click on "Codinglog" text file, and if you remember the day you made changes in address 09 BCM yourself can solve the problem.
So, triple satisfaction:
1- Exploration at risk ... the most exciting (when you activated some functions without previous knowledge)
2- Discovery ... temporary (regardless of the result)
3- Solve the problems yourself ... have knowledge forever.
If you mean that the correct foglights for the function "static cornering lights" are those that have the wiring installed correctly, correct BCM, and correct steering angle sensor (for ESP), yes, you are guessing rightly.audiobull wrote:I guess I cant activate the fog lights with turning unless I have the correct fog lights?

ha ha
not to worry.
Great to learn about the debug part as I was not aware of that and that could come in very handy
