Nearly 5k in mine now and I'm still finding out things about it. The really wet weather the other day gave me an opportunity to see how well the electronics dealt with slipping wheels. I have to say it was very good, keeping the car on the straight and narrow with the minimum of fuss.

This car really is a wonderful balance between fun, practicality and just keeping the right side of not trying too hard. I was wondering about getting the new Civic Type R in place of my existing Diesel Type S, as that is also a brilliant bit of packaging and a great second car as a load lugger. One look at the rear wing changed my mind on that one. So still looking for that replacement, but for now the little Polo is able to bring a smile to my face every time I drive it.

What would I change? The stereo is rubbish really for a premium car and the wing mirrors are too small for safety. I've missed a lot of cars in the large blind spot but at my age I've learned to look at least twice before pulling out...

All of this though are small negatives weighted against the positives. Well worth its cost and highly recommended to anyone still not sure

Build week also confirmed for 11/01/16 A while to go yet but looking forward to a confirmed date and looking at early Feb delivery hopefully

Has anyone else found that you can unlock your GTI from a good 100 meters away?! Bit worrying as I live down a row of terraced houses so sometimes have to park far up the road away from my front door, find myself carrying my keys to my door to avoid accidentally unlocking the car from my pocket!

Haven't sussed out if it auto locks itself yet or not?

I find the opposite, mine has a range of about 4 metres.

As some of you may know you can increase the range of the remote by pressing it against your head as you use it!

Done around 3,000 miles in mine now and still enjoying driving it. Touch wood no problems to date and does go very well in the wet without you feeling that the electronics are taking over. Only problem I have is staying on the right side of sensible which I manage to do most of the time honest! Average long term mpg is just a touch over 40 but since the weather has turned I'm down to around 38 mpg on the daily commute. I know it's wrong but I still wonder what life would have been like if I'd gone for an ST. Would I have got fed up with the hard ride and figure hugging recarios or the Saturday night outside of MacDonalds looks innit?

It's a weird one given I've got a Polo GTi but I don't want anything that obvious... Ideally I want something with a stunning sound system this time. The best stereo I've ever had in a car was in a 52 plate Volvo S60 - absolutely stunning. Unfortunately the newer versions dropped the Dynaudio stereo for something that was rubbish. I'm not really sure there's anything out there I want to spend much money on at present other than a Tesla - and that's a little out of my price range unfortunately...

Yeah I wonder about the ST too m8 but I pretty much hated the ride on test and sure those seat wud b a pain, the GTis seats are great I think. I'm not getting ur mpg, I'm at around 31 at min, but its stuck around town on my short work journey, usually take it out on some nice roads in the decent weather. Its crap at min

I think I've struggled with the rave reviews which didnt quite square with my experience of the ST and it was also a "no way" from my wife who didn't like the teenage boy racer image! Still there you go. The polo gives me all the enjoyment I need and I am not an on the edge or weekend track racer which is what almost all of the people who work for the motoring press are.
