Noice! Serves him right.
I also have a little ding on the right door, made on the first week on the one day I leave the car sleeping outside. I'm sure it was some jackass with a door but I have no idea who. I have full coverage insurance but I'm reluctant to take it in to fix and get a higher premium.
Maybe I'll just order to fix it on me but it will be pricey for sure

Re: New GTI
my insurance is going to go up as it's still going to be a non fault claim
if it had only been a small dent i might of left it but it was scratched and gouged on the line near bottom
plus it might teach him to be more careful or park where he should

Of course. I stand corrected. I blame the wine.

Guys I think I know the answer to this one but I want to check. Been offered winters wheels for £100 from a friend, awesome price I'm sure you will agree, the are brand new, she had them on her polo for a month. The are on VW 14" steelies, these ain't gonna fit over the GTI brakes are they?

Don't think they will fit. The correct approved size is 6jx16 ET40 5x100 and 195 50 16 tyres
The wheels are hard to come by but I've just got 4 delivered today for £167 and will put them on the car theis weekend once the tyres are fitted.
The usual sites like Mytyres and Tyreleader are not yet showing the correct wheel size for the new GTI.

Re: New GTI
Hi
Just joined the forum today after reading the new gti thread from start to finish
Last saturday I ordered a new gti with the following
Pearl black
Nav
Alcantara seats ( heated)
Convenience pack
Sports pack
Winter pack
Arm rest
I was thinking about adding the Cruise control, plus the rear camera and sensors for an extra £425 if its not too late, but think any dealer would be able to add extras on with it only being 5 days since the deposit was paid.
I have never had cruise control and rarely use the motorway maybe only once a month ( does this only re set when you touch the brake or does it deactivate when you use clutch,or accelerator
I have never had a rear camera or sensors( can these be turned off on the front and only beep when you are in reverse)
Does anyone have any opinions about the above
Not had any info from the dealership regarding order number yet but getting excited.
I have driven golfs for the past 17 years but was blew away by the test drive
Thanks for any advice given

Re: New GTI
Welcome to the GTI club! I'd get the parking sensors if you can. I didn't think I'd use them but actually they're really helpful. I just missed out on the rear camera but this I believe would be really useful in helping avoid kerbing alloys.Barcabod wrote:Hi

Whether you add these or not, the car itself is superb and you'll get a huge amount of fun out of driving it!

Re: New GTI
I got the parking pack mainly for cruise control (never had any issue with parking before and the Polo is pretty small) but they're actually really useful to be fair and as they look to be becoming standard on a lot of new cars they're probably worth going for if only for the residual value.

Re: New GTI
I had got very used to having Cruise Control on my previous car and wouldn't be without it. One slight difference I've found with the VW Cruise is that the clutch does not deactivate it. So if you change gear, the cruise control immediately attempts to maintain its speed (if set) in the new gear. That can be a bit disconcerting at first if like me you were used to perhaps changing down a gear as you approached a roundabout. Instead of the lower gear helping to slow you down you could land up speeding up! Of course braking immediately disconnects the cruise control as does the cancel button on the steering wheel.Barcabod wrote:

I only got the rear view camera by the skin of my teeth as it became available effectively for another £25 if you had already specified the Cruise and Park Pack. Fortunately my dealer managed to amend my order to have the Parking Pack.
I'd definitely go for the rear view camera if you can. I find it makes reversing into a tight spot much easier.
