Any issues with color fading on the newer Polo's?

Post by Shoegazer27 »

So I am looking to get a red 2011 1.2 Polo Match. The only is issue I know red cars are renowned for fading. I used to own a red Corsa that faded badly.

So has anyone had any issues with color fading, especially with the red polo's? Also does anyone know what paint is used (I know it's non-metallic on the flash red) but what sort of coating is used? I can't seem to find this information anywhere.

It's clear coated with lacquer. It won't fade if looked after well

VW have been overcoating solid colours for many years now with lacquer

I'm amazed at how my flash red paint keeps my polo looking new each day, any time of the day, it constantly looks wet, deep and fresh

When I went to pick up my new Flash Red GTI I parked up my old Flash Red GTI next to it (60 plate) and was surprised at the difference in the paint - my old one looked much 'pinker' so I guess it does fade to a certain degree
