Stage 1, 1.5 or 2???

Post by pumpum »

Hi guys 'n' Gals,

New to the forum but had my 2006 9n3 GTi a little over 6 months now.

Since owning I've fitted:-
*BC Racing coilovers
*Front lower honeycomb grilles
*Carbon wrapped front and rear badges
*Monza's refurbed and painted in anthracite grey with new centre caps
*Team heko wind deflectors.

Mostly pretty common stuff.

Ok, to the topic subject...

I have the following ready to fit:-

*TIP
*Forge Re-circ Valve
*PD160 Intake
*Uprated Panel Filter
*MK1 Audi S3 312mm Callipers/Carriers etc.
*Braided Brake Lines

I will be ordering a full turbo back exhaust system in the following few weeks...

Once all this is fitted I am obviously looking to take it to be remapped.

I'm assuming I will be looking at stage 1.5? as I'm past stage 1 but not quite at stage 2 (intercooler etc.).

Does this sound about right and does anyone have any advice in going forward?

Thanks in advance :D

Hi

Sounds about right to me :D . You should see a 5 to 10 bhp (ruffly) increase on top of your stage 1 figure wit a good quality turbo back set up.

That's my experience any way. I had mine mapped to stage 1 with standard downpipe and exhaust then fitted a Milltek turbo back 200 cel cat with the 2.5' down pipe and the car felt much more responsive and much less restricted at the top of the rev range.

Am going for stage 2 in a couple of months. need to do my clutch first  as it is on its way out.

Thanks for the response. :)

I've been told to wait until I've fitted the exhaust before having it mapped so that it can be included.

Did fitting the system after you'd had it mapped throw up any codes or has it been alright?

No not at all. And i have had it on for a year now :D. But it is best to put it on before the map so if you get a EML light you can have it mapped out.

A friend of mine got the 200 cel cat fitted to his edition 30 and he got the PO420 Code (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) a couple of times but he got it mapped out when he got the stage 2 map.

When are you planing to get it done?

Well I'm picking my exhaust up saturday morning and fitting that along with the forge TIP when I get back.

Once that's done I've just got to book it in for the map. I can't decide whether to take it to JBS AutoDesign in Chesterfield which is round the corner from my work, or drive to Leicestershire and have the guys at R-Tech do it.

Picking up my S3 brakes on saturday too. I'll try and post some photos for everyone.
