Re: New GTI
I got told South Africa the day I bought it and I know that's rubbish for the GTI! Seems dealers are as clueless as ever with there knowledge of where the cars are built!

All 3 & 5 door 6C Blue GTs, Bluemotion, R-Line should be too.
Other 5 door models e.g. SELs are usually made in South Africa, but can be made in Spain too.
You can check your own car by noting the 11th digit of your VIN, which is the VW plant code.
Y = Spain
U = South Africa

Re: New GTI
Might have been me on the Isle of Wight in my Oryx White? Or more likely my Mrs... Depends if the car you saw was being kerbed to oblivion or not at the timeMonty246810 wrote:I have just had my dash changed for the sticking Trip button seems ok now but the rear brakes still make squeaks which I have been back twice so it will need to be back at the garage. Has anyone had any look with this issue and had it fixed. I saw a white one last week on the Isle of Wight not many over here yet.

Yes. People waiting will definitely not be disappointed. Best decision to trade the 1.2 tsi r line polo in for the 1.8 tsi beasty. Still in loveNorfolk Boy wrote: My brakes are a bit 'noisy' but they work that's the main thing! Still can't fault the car after six months of ownership. All of you waiting for yours should not be disappointed imho.

Re: New GTI
Hello, just thought i would introduce myself. Placed an order this morning for my GTi specced as below.
5dr manual in Flash Red
Serron alloys
Jacara cloth
Convenience pack
Climate control
Cruise & park pack with camera
Front armrest
Sports performance kit
Had a test drive this morning and the salesman sent me out alone telling me he didn't need to come as they sell themselves. He wasn't wrong!
Just the long wait til delivery now...

Re: New GTI
My car shat itself this morning, I started it up, reversed out of my drive, started to lift the clutch, just as it was fully released there was a massive clunk, the revs dropped and the engine stuttered, revs down to about 300 then all over the place and then stalled, stop start obviously tried to restart the engine, nothing, engine management light came on and asked me to manually start the car, tried it and it took about 5 seconds to turn over before it hit 200rpm and then it died and wouldnt start it's now at VW who believe the timing chain has jumped which to me most probably means a ruined engine. Joy. Just hit 3000 miles.
