The dealer offered me Lifeshine at a 'heavily discounted price'. I told them if they threw it in for free I still didn't want it and they looked shocked

I don't think the Lifeshine protection products themselves are bad, it's just that the dealers don't allow sufficient time for their car valeters to do the job, so there's a risk of poor cleaning and paint preparation methods being used prior to applying the Lifeshine.

Personally I don't think lifeshine is a bad product. It just needs to be applied properly. And seeing as autoglym only let 'authorised' people apply it, it rarely gets the ratings that it deserves.

I'm not sure whether this is just poor design or a faulty instrument cluster, in bright conditions when the light switch is at '0' the instrument cluster with speedo etc is illuminated quite brightly, but when it becomes overcast or I go into an underground car park, the instrument cluster stops illuminating. Even turning the light switch to the side light position still doesn't change this and I have to put my lights on dipped beam before the instrument cluster lights up. Any thoughts??

Yes, it's to warn you exterior lighting levels are low, and to put your lights on, so it's working as intended and not faulty. My mk6 Golf instrumentation illumination had the same auto-dimming feature in poor lighting conditions.

Question is why the hell does it do it with the headlight switch in the auto position

Just done over 350 miles, having picked it up couple weeks ago so gradually running it in! I'm def a convert to the VW family, it's a fantastic car and the best I've owned so far when it comes to ticking all the boxes. Apart from the small boot which I already knew about there's nothing I can fault it really.... ok maybe the speakers could be a bit better!

One thing that hasn't worked yet though is the auto wipers. It's turned on in the settings but I seem to have to do them myself still, not a biggie but does the stalk on the steering wheel have to be in a certain position?

Yes. It's actually one down from the 'off' position stop. Not obvious and I'm still not sure I've got them in the right position until they don't work!

Glad you're enjoying the car!

Like i said, here are some photos which where promised! Picked the car up Wednesday past and have 440 miles on the clock already. What can I say, I'm in love with the DSG and the whole car in general. Great fun to drive... nippy when it needs to be.... economical too! Chuffed to bits with it! I voiced my concerns before I got it prepared by the dealer wondering if I should do it myself, and decided to let them do it. Extremely satisfied with their prep work, not a single swirl or mark to be spotted which is super. The only thing Ive noticed is that the rear boot and window really is a vacuum for dirt and water to collect.... apart from that all is good haha!

Thanks though I think one down from the off position is just to do a manual single wipe of the windscreen so don't think it can stay in that position?

So last Tue had update from VW tracker that car had arrived in the country.

Have arranged finance signing for tomorrow and pick up from dealer Friday.

Just had exactly the same update from VW this morning that the car has arrived in the country (and would be up to 7 days to dealer).

Really hoping this is some sort if admin error and the car did arrive last week or my plans for Fri are down the shi!er.

I've emailed the dealer to see if they have a better system to check what's going on.

I know it's only a week but it's a pain in the ass if VW system has falsely told me it's here when it's not.

Anyone with similar experience?

Ah - my apologies. It must be up one then. I was trying to remember (and failing). It's not intuitive...

Looks fantastic mate. Are the covers replacements or do they fit over the original colour coded items?

Have to get an NI meet sorted
