Just been to see about whether it's worth getting a service plan for mine (10 months old and 8000 miles) and apparently it's not as I'm on the long-life service regime.

However, I did check about CarPlay while I was there and for my May 2015 GTI (ordered March 2015) I can retrofit Car Play for £213.40. It's a simple code plus dealer upgrade (so basically a 3-minute rip-off) but is available if important to you. I'm going to have a think about it as I've got lots of other things to spend £213 on I'd want first...
Yeah that's kinda pricey but I think it's a tangible upgrade on the media system.
Of course only worth it to people who own Apple products.
But if the Satnav is around 600€ It's almost more cost effective to just get a nice new iPhone 6 and Apple CarPlay when you're speccing your GTI.

I'm considering it, still waiting on an answer from my dealer.

I'm also thinking about getting rid of the spare wheel, replacing it with a puncture kit, and getting the Plug&play subwoofer. I would get better sound and a more spacious boot.

I can only seem to get about 36 - 38 mpg. Weird as I easily got 42 - 44 in my Mountune ST before. I'm hoping the economy improves once I've done more miles in it. Only done 500ish so far.
Well getting to and from work I manage 50MPG at 100kph. But in the city and driving spritely I'm getting around 28MPG

Plug and play subwoofer? Where do you get that from?
Straight from VW, it's an official part.
But it's kinda pricey from VW dealers, you can also get it elsewhere, like eBay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Plug-Play-Sou ... Swv0tVK9Wq

Fingers crossed! Apple's CarPlay for under 250€ would be awesome

How many miles until your first service then? I've had mine for just under 6 months and 9600 miles and it's going in for its first service tomorrow
Dealer reckons anywhere up to 20,000 miles and two and three-quarter years on the long-life service interval. Not sure I'm happy with leaving it that long but I'll look on the internal service interval thing when I remember as it works out when it should go in apparently. I reckon it'll be much shorter as we do a lot of town mileage.

Yep that's in line with I've been told.
I've asked i I could/should do a service at 2000km (simple oil and filter change) and they told me it wasn't needed.
My first service is scheduled for May 2017 (2 years after I bought it) or 30.000km

I bought mine from Carwow through VW Listers Fleet Sales. I wonder if the fleet cars have a longer service interval? I still reckon mine will call time at about one year...

Bit irritating as I'd hoped to get the 2 services for £287 that's on offer for cars under 10k and one year old.

Perhaps.. I got mine through Lookers Guildford on Carwow too, mine came with a 2 year servicing plan though so I guess I can't complain as I'm not paying!

It goes thru Portugal? Weird....

When did you order yours? I waited about 4 months for mine last year. Has that situation improved?

Picked mine up earlier after having it serviced and they also replaced the instrument binnacle due to the sticking reset button issue. Something doesn't seem quite right though.. ;) Image

Lots of cars seem to be afflicted by the sticking reset button.

Do the newly built cars have this problem or is the issue fixed (i.e. new binnacles) at the factory?
