Air filter

I have a 2002 1.2 9n polo. I changed the airfilter on it but when i pulled the cover up i pulled 2 hoses off that are still attatched to the cover, i put the front 1 back but i am unsure where the rear 1 goes, there is a valve similar to a bike innertube valve that spits fuel when i pressed it. Does the tube go on there?

Oh, no, no - don't fit anything to that petrol rail valve, it should only have a protective cap on it to keep out dust etc, like a tyre valve has.

Look at the under side of your air filter again, you should be able to see spigots where the pipes fit on to.

Edit:- ah, I've just re-read your posting, so the hoses came away with the air filter/cover thing, hum, I have not got a 1.2, used to have a 1.4 but it has now gone!

Really just look around down where these hoses end up, I'd always just removed the hose, only one hose on the 1.4, from the cover before lifting it off!

Right, I've looked up my old Haynes book and I see that the 1.2 has a small vacuum hose and a larger crankcase ventilation hose, where the large one came off there should be an open spigot or hose stub, where the short(?) vacuum hose came from looks like it will have left behind a smaller stiff nylon bit of pipe - all that is taken from what I can see in the Haynes book!

Edit:- the big hose that is shown in your picture is the crankcase ventilation hose.
