I took my car into VW a couple of weeks ago for them to look into my Flashing Coil and Traction control warning lights on my dash.
I had an awful drive home from work that day, limp mode, juddering throttle, struggling getting any power at all. VW diagnosed it as a faulty/ damaged wiring harness between the throttle pedal and the ECU which I asked them to changed. Problem solved and issue free for the past 2 weeks..........until this morning.
This morning, the lights both came back on and I had reduced power, although still driveable. I stopped and restarted the car, lights never came back on again and the car power retuened to normal. I have now booked it back in to VW for them to look at again.
Can anybody help me understand what this could be? I have read some peoples comments on the forums with similar problems, but I thought this was sorted.

Sounds very much like the problems I've had on the GTI.
Lack of power past 3000 rpm. Intermittent emissions lights. Lumpy slow acceleration
I've had the turbo pressure sensor replaced twice and the wiring replaced once.
It's just started again.

I had the exact same symptoms, turned out two coil packs were burnt out.

Well mine went back into the garage and they said they have changed the harness between throttle pedal and ECU. So far, so good. We will see how it goes!

3rd Turbo pressure sensor in 7000 miles.
Either they've made of cheese or something else is at fault however I quote:
"This is unrelated to the problems you car had before"

Back in again. Same symptoms. Power cuts out at 3000 rpm. I've had 3 manifold pressure sensors and the wiring to it replaced once.
Time to get shot of this car it think. Warranty up in March.

9500 miles
9 breakdowns
4 sets of wiring harnesses
4 turbo pressure sensors
2 sets of melted spark plugs
2 complaints raised to VW
1 response of this isn't unusual
1 threat to sue
1 car purchased back at a slightly below market rate
1 dissatisfied customer that will never purchase a VAG car again.
Things go wrong. I accept that. Design faults, manufacturing faults, let downs on component quality all have a hand in it. It's how a company deals with these cases, listens to their customers and sorts things out that separates the wheat from the chaff. Simply replacing failed components time and time again does not resolve the issue of why they are failing. I can only assume that VW employ fitters rather than mechanics or engineers. Customers shouldn't have to push and push and push (without shouting I might add) to get a half decent level of service.
Sad to say goodbye to the forum but now looking at an AMG A250 instead.
