Re: New GTI
The sport button doesn't change the actual noise of the car, only gives a synthetic filtered sound in the cab.

Re: New GTI
Done 160 miles today on motorway, Dual carriage ways ,A and B roads. Despite my slight disappointment on the build quality of this car ie the rattles n buzzes its such fun to drive. Power is awesome and when I just wanna go along nice and sensible it does that too, average of 45 mpg on the trip too. If VW cud put the good quality trim in correctly without the above mentioned faults, this wud b the perfect car.

Re: New GTI
I don't think it is. No car reviews I've seen have mentioned it. The Fiesta ST however is torque limited in 1st and 2nd which has been mentioned by the motoring press and I felt it when test driving one. The Polo GTI felt faster in 2nd.green_comet wrote:I'm pretty sure the manual is torque limited in first and second gear too, holding the esc button until it goes into sport mode seems to turn it off. There's a very noticeable difference in acceleration in my one. Try it out so I know it's not just all in my head.
What I have found is the Polo GTI is limited by traction. I think you're feeling the effects of having the traction control turned off. The standard Bridgestone tyres on my car aren't the best for grip either.
In other news, Ford have softened the suspension in the new Fiesta ST 200, which is interesting. Apparently the ride quality is better than the standard car - which is partly why I bought a Polo over one.

Re: New GTI
I've read the same about the ST suspension changes. Autocar says that these changes were made to the standard ST around the summer of last year but I can find nothing to say whether there is a noticeable improvement in ride quality. The ST I test drove (pre suspension tweaks) before getting the Polo was great until I got to a bumpy B road and that was just too uncomfortable for me. There are still too many pluses with the Polo that stop me from trading it in for a ST (not forgetting an immediate trading in hit) and the driving experience isn't that different unless you are always driving on the edge.blackertracker wrote:I don't think it is. Re: New GTI
Bad news
Today when I was washing my car I found two rock chips
One on the hood and one on the wind shield
I've called VW and ordeder a repair kit for my paint colour. I'll probably also visit one of the garages which fixes chips on glass, usually they do a great job.

Re: New GTI
That's the vwracing springs on
And a big shout to GeorgeS78 for putting me on to the maxton design splitter
Not sure if the photos justify how good the springs make the car look

Re: New GTI
Cheers bud
Can I get a bit of advice from you?
After seeing photos of your gti I was thinking about getting a set of 15 fiftytwos
Don't worry I'm not going to get the turbomacs
Was thinking about white tarmacs.
Any chance you could tell me the right set to order, I know they are 17-8s but the rest is a mystery
Thanks in advance

Re: New GTI
Sure,i bought mine off of another polo owner, the pcd is 5-100, they're 17-8 as you said and I have centre rings but will need to look at the size of them before I say. I thought about getting the tarmacs but saw the same as mine on my mates car and decided to get a set, White tarmacs would suit the black

I would go for it though, it makes the front end look so much better.

Re: New GTI
Mentioned b4 but its driving me mad now lol, the gloss black touch screen surround, and around heater/blower controls seems to creak/rattle more and more. U can hear it do it just by pressing the soft touch material near it. Anybody had this or had dealer try fix it.
