Post by Garrardrj »

I have thoughts of lowering our car a little but seeing so many kits for sale secondhand is putting me off , so why are there so many for sale ?

Various reasons from what I've seen.. People wanting lower so upgrade to coilovers/airride but also some change their mind due to road conditions and ride so go back standard. If you like the look and don't mind bouncy ride just do it :D

H&R are very good quality kits. Id be surprised if people were selling due to issues. Moreso, they want to be lower as Wiloughbyyy says

Also if you go for H&R lowering springs prepare yourself for a MUCH bumpier ride than stock. The car rides way better and theres alot less bodyroll but its way harsher ride. Worth the upgrade i would say!!

Perhaps my title should have said lowering kits , my H and R in the title was intended to say height and ride. Anyway if it effects the ride that much i don't want it , so it has made my decision quite quickly .

Corrected the title for you

It does depends very much how far you lower. Generally the lower you go, the more bumpy it gets

Up to a 35mm drop is barely noticeable normally

Why do manufacturers leave such big gaps between the top of the tyre and the wheel arch on sporty looking cars ? Fair enough on non sporty cars but some do look odd or is there an actual reason ?

I think with the case of the Polo its purely for ride comfort as it has fairly stiff suspension and low profile tyres so having a decent bit of clearance helps with the comfort.

I would have liked it about 15mm lower as standard tbh
