Anyone have any idea what the little plastic tray in the standard air box is for?

No, in the axial air box itself there like a black plastic shelf that sits halfway up the air box if you get what I mean

It's a snow sceen that protects the filter from getting snow against it and then getting wet. I removed mine as it doesn't snow here and it'd probably help airflow a little.
