All, I'm toying with the idea of buying a bluegt manual 2014. I took one for a short test drive, lovely car but the testdrive was a bit limited .. a bit on a motorway, not a lot to write home about.
Thoughts were suspension felt a bit firm, and also, just seemed noisy - tyre noise or something: not sure - was expecting a relatively quiet car, refined, stylish etc.
Is this normal on the blueGT? How does it compare to the Match? (though I have to say I like the idea of more HP).
As mentioned, not the best test drive, so I never got to take it on windy roads, or chuck it round corners in London, or floor it, etc, how does this little car handle and drive for you guys?
And I presume nothing's changed since 2014 models?
Thanks

I'm not sure about model availability at that time, but can you confirm that it is a 6R 6C car you are looking, ie, it could be a very late 6R car or a very early improved 6R 6C.
There were some significant engine changes I think born from the need to avoid bin "not so good" early engine types!

the 1.4 TSI ACT engine in the BlueGT barely changed from 6R to 6C. only 10 more horsepowers.
the interior got a big upgrade though

Sorry guys, Im not sure which one it was.
Perhaps I should stick to the most recent model then.
Anyone have any thoughts on BlueGT and Match?
I know blueGT is faster, but as mentioned, some roadnoise which bothered me.
Not driven a Match before - if it was more quiet, just as nippy and can happily quietly do 80 on the motorway, I might go for this.

Mine also seems to have quite some Road noise with Low profile tyres.
The engine 140/150 hp, puts down the same power when on a dyno.
They all are 148-155hp what ive seen.

Re: blueGT? or Match? 2014
I had a Blue GT for a year (it was a friday afternoon car so I got rid) and the road noise was ok but I found the seats very firm. We now have a gti and, although it feels the same over potholes, it feels softer everywhere else. I can only put this down to the vinyl on the seats in the Blue GT as it wasn't very comfortable due to being firm. They say faux leather, but leather is soft and supple. Being bald it also stuck to my head when hot if the aircon wasn't on!
The Match will be slower and quieter due to the fact it has smaller tyres. Tyre size can make a huge difference to the road noise and ride. Yes, the Blue GT is noisier and firmer than a Match spec, but it's no worse than my current Volvo and that's the next car size up without low profile tyres. If you want a sporty car, you have to accept a firmer ride and some tyre noise usually. It's a cracking little car and I always got good mpg out of it. I'd highly recommend a Blue GT if the GTI is out of reach. Plus most people don't know what a Blue GT is, so it's great fun leaving 2.0 A3 tdi drivers standing and watching GTD drivers struggle to get past!

Tyre noise increases as they wear. My B GT is on 16K miles and though the tyres have got plenty of tread on them, I think the road noise is increasing.
Can't comment on a Polo Match, but we bought my daughter a Fabia MK3 1.2 SEL last year and it rides considerably more comfortably than the B GT.
The big plus in my mind for the B GT is that if you drive it with some care, you can easily get 50 mpg and then when you want to / need to, give it some welly you've got 150 hp to get you down the road
I guess if you're after a more luxurious small car then there's the A1, but I think B GT makes a good case for itself.
