Servicing polo 6r 1.2tsi what tools ?

Will be servicing my girlfriends polo the weekend and so have bought through a good source all the relevant genuine parts to do the job. But as the car is new to me having mainly worked on my Mitsubishi Evo the last 7 years I'm just inquiring as to what tools are needed as I'll be doing it on her driveway not my home.

What's needed for change filters, plugs and oil ?

pretty much the usual tools + the oil filter tool and that tool for the spark plugs, I'm very technical I know. But the oil filter i think is either 32mm or 38mm a good large pair of grips can do that though, but spark plugs just get the tool you're royally f'd if they break in the car.

Not much really. A half way decent set of metric spanners/sockets. A set of hex/torx drivers T10-T50.

The oil filter is 14 flute, 76mm. but a rubber/strap wrench will do the job. I'd stick a new sump plug washer on myself, they are only pennies. Don't use cheap oil, If I remember correctly 504.00 is the spec for the Euro IV engine petrol engines (12 month intervals)

As it's a small engine with in a large engine bay everything is easy to get at, doubt you will find an easier oil filter to get at.

LOL.. That's what I thought. But a quick peek on EuroCarParts. calls up NGK 97153 at £21.99 for the 1.2 TSi (Unless I've miss-read it and that's for a set of 4. What do you think?)

Just had another look, GSF call them up for £33.20, so maybe it is for a set?? That seems more like it.

Euro are priced per plug. That's insane!

From the dealer they are like £40 for a set.

Ebay they are £13 per separate plug.

If any of my cars have NGK plugs, I tend to get the numbers off them and buy online from an NGK supplier, maybe even sparkplugs.co.uk - well some thing sounding a bit like that.

Or, and this normally only works for older models, if VW Group change packaging, you often find genuine VW Group plugs going cheap on ebay as all VW Group outlets will just be selling all stock with older style packaging by auction - and that is where these ebay guys get their stock of NOS!

It seems like sparkplugsuk is not always the best place to buy plugs, I checked their price for 6 plugs for my 2011 Audi S4 and before postage they were a bit more than I had hoped for but then adding on postage made them even worse, obviously, in the end I bought 6 for my 2011 Audi S4 for just under £60 delivered, for NGK plugs which seem to be VW Group parts for that car, time will tell!
