Turbo actuator Polo R Line 1.0 TSI

Post by calummcauley1 »

Driving the other day s/s came up with an error message that it wasn't working , thought nothing of it really . Then the I noticed the EPC light came on just after when I was parking up at the shop I was heading to . When I was leaving the car park there was no lights or errors showing so I thought ok maybe whatever it is was has reset , continued onto the motorway slip road then half way up it EPC light comes on and car doesn't go past 40 so turn off the motorway as soon as I can and take it to the dealers . Got a courtesy car after a lot of hassle and left .

Called today after getting a text at 4 o'clock yesterday saying my car had been took in to be checked . I was told on the phone that the parts had been ordered to which I asked what was wrong . I was told that the turbo actuator and seals are getting replaced which I dont think is very good for a 65 plate car that has done just over 10000 miles

Is this a common thing amongst TSI engine cars ? And would this likely cause any more problems with stuff in the future ?

Its also been in to get the clutch looked at as when the car is sitting in neutral and I release the clutch pedal there is a loud clunking noise whether I do it slow fast or normal , has anyone else had any problem with theirs ?

Its a 6 speed manual gearbox

My wife has an August 2015 Polo 1.2TSI 110PS SEL, so it is also 6MT and there is a clunk from within the clutch area when I change gear, I keep meaning to hand it in to get the dealer's written comment on that before the warranty has expired, I'll probably do that when the weather warms up a bit. When parked up with the car in neutral, I've tried rocking the engine back and forwards and I hear a similar noise so I hoping it was just a gearbox front mounting and/or dogleg mounting was faulty or badly designed, I'd hate to think that it is an internal clutch issue, but it could be.

Turbo actuators surely not again, VW Group had issues with different turbo on the early 6R Polos with the chain driven 1.2 8V engines, so far so good with that on my wife's Polo.

I can only hear the noise when I'm stationary and releasing the clutch in neutral , I cant hear it when driving and my gear changes seen to be ok I've not noticed a change

They didn't mention anything to me about the clutch in the recent phone call only spoke about the actuator . I had the car in before about the noise I'm sure so it should be logged and also for this time . I will ask for a history to see what the car has been in for .

I will be sure to check the noise when collecting the car before handing over the courtesy car keys and if it is still there then I will leaving the car till it is sorted , my fiances 1.2 60ps is 7 years old and done 60 odd thousand and no noises at all from the gearbox and also the 1.0 polo I've got as my courtesy car is also the same no noises what so ever , if they try to say it is operating noises or such I will be requesting a test drive in one the same as mine .

RUM4MO : picked car up today with new actuator and seals etc changed , new battery for stop /start , regarding the clutch noise I had a service technician out to have a look before leaving , the first technician walked back in to the store and got another one out to which he tried to tell me the noise was the normal operating noise because of the friction of the bearing and clutch plate engaging with everything else . I asked to check another car with same engine and gearbox I was told there was none in stock so went back out to the car had a quick look online and low and behold there was one at the exact branch I was at (rutherglen volkswagen ) . Had a big arguement trying to get someone to show me the said car running and the " normal clutch noise " supposedly couldn't do it with out the service manager so going in on monday after work to see it . Also been onto the phone with vw finance regarding the car and they have lodged a compliant and said they will be in touch regarding it .

One thing the technian also said was that if the clutch peddle was shuddering then it would definetly be a fault and it would be getting fixed under warratny

Hum, being fobbed off is not good, good luck checking out the car at the other branch.
