Wheeled what?

Post by retro »

Didn't have any of your new fangled wheeled warriors when I were a lad. We did have 'Chorlton and the Wheelies' though. It was pretty surreal.

Chorlton and the Wheelies was a sort of stop-frame animation kids programme. You had the Wheelies, who were little guys with wheels for legs who zoomed around Wheelieworld being oppressed by the evil witch who wanted them all to be unhappy. Luckily You also had Chorlton, who was a happiness dragon, who always managed to save the day in his own haphazard way. Oh, and they all had bizarre regional accents. And the plots made absolutely no sense.

the whole thing was one jerkily animated acid trip... it cropped up on a couple Kids Cult Classics DVDs i got (for Dangermouse and Count Duckula etc..)

and a lazy one too - the idea behind the wheelies was that Cosgrove Hall wouldn't have to animate so many sets of legs - only Chorltons and the witch's...!!

The Jay & Silent Bob series are good for a laugh.

Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy & JAy & Silent Bob Strike Back are all good for stoner humour, as is Dude, Where's my car?

Also love Tarantino's stuff. Resevoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown et al...

Also any of the 'Taxi' films are good, I got 1, 2 and 3 for £10 in a sale but beware as there subtitled.

Getaway In Stokholm is something that everyone should watch at least once... mental stuff (for anyone that doesnt know it involves 2 drivers (one 450hp Escort Cos & one 500hp supra) strapping cameras to there cars and then getting them to chase them, and then losing the police...) and theres 4 of them to choose from now.

chorlton and the wheelies sounds well bizarre. must admit it sounds better than jason and the wheeled warriors, which was the typical blowing s**t up stuff. its funny cos ive always been a fan of animated stuff and have never seen it anywhere (only a fan in the way that if its on i'll watch it not quite like you tahrey you sound like a proper enthusiast!). just how retro is it retro? but i guess the real question is does it compare to dangermouse and count duckula (blood.....i'll get it!)?

taxi rocks ive always loved it (must get a set of wings for me polo), but i didnt know there was a third one! this ive got to see, same with getaway in stokholm which ive never even heard of.

repo man was amazing by the way cheers, vapourising police....genius!

errr... i think Dangermouse and Count Duckula are like
WAAAAY
over
here

and Blood is kind of . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .WAAAAAAY over here!

being, well, a whole lot newer, and... i think you can guess the rest. Vampires maybe, but Duckula it aint.

that's the main problem you see... lumping animated material into the one same category is like saying all french, or all australian, etc films and tv are the same... doesnt work ;)

not sure on "enthusiast".... long term "advocate" maybe ;) ;)

taxi 3 is something to do with ski-ing...

think ive got you all confused!

the "blood....i'll get it" is in the starting credits of duckula "blood" says duckula "....i'll get it" replies nanny. thought youd get that tahrey being an advocate!
