Idle issue
I have problem with my idle and I cannot find solution.
It runs on 950 rpm with warmed engine and everything off.
If i turn on the fans without a/c it’s again 950.
Some times it fixed it self, other times it’s fixed and if i press gas again 950..
Also if press and leave gas it raises rpm before goes down.
Does anyone have a solution? Thanks

Re: Idle issue
Idle RPM is dependent on many things... energy use, A/C, battery state, engine temperature... so it's difficult to say whether something is wrong.
Did your car do this the same way before chiptuning?

Re: Idle issue
... brake electronic system ... the brake also modifies the idle.
What is shown in the videos is a totally normal behavior according conditions.

Re: Idle issue
Battery is charged, i said no a/c on and engine warmed. I wrote everything.
I don’t think it is normal because i didn’t have this before

Re: Idle issue
Is ok to have 950rpm idle with engine?
Always it was 650...
Always it was 650...
Re: Idle issue
Think it’s prob normal
Mine goes to 950 with just the heater set to 1 position
If I turn it off it does drop to 650-700
But I prefer it when it’s at 950 so leave the heater on 1

Re: Idle issue
I found the problem. When i turn to the heat with the fan on 0 it climbs to 950. Is it normal?
Does it heat the air to be ready for use when i open it?

Re: Idle issue
When the car is moving the air enters into the cabin even with the fan 0 position.
In this last video the engine temp is low and the heating system tries to reach the selected temperature. How does the system try to get that temp? the answer is obvious.
In addition, in some automatic or semi-automatic climate control systems (climatronic/climatic) the climate system automaticaly activates the recirculation button when you select the Max temp, by the same reason.
I'm not an expert, but for me it's totally normal behavior.

Re: Idle issue
Thanks. Engine temp can be 90°C and again high rpm. I believe it heats the air to be ready for use.
But I didn’t know that with closed air it could be working

Re: Idle issue
sirdimitris,
According to my knowledge, another reason for idle revs to become higher than normal is if the battery management finds that the battery is running low on charge. It'll bump up the idle revs to cause the alternator to deliver a higher level of net charge back into the battery in that state.
I too have noticed lately my Polo's idle revs at 950 - 1000 rpm, but that's usually when first getting the car out of the garage on a cold morning and I've fiddled around with the heater/blowers to get some vaguely warmish air into the cabin ASAP. Sometimes, that high level of idle revs can persist for quite a while. But, as iichel and ciclo say, the revs are validly increased, under several sets of circumstances, to not only give you best comfort as the driver but also to render the most economic use of the fuel, by getting the engine up to normal temperature as quickly as possible. Way back in the Summer, my idle revs were around 650 - 700 rpm, I seem to recall.
